#Repost @kenna_yoga_dance pease just read those beautiful words from my friend! I sooo soo agreed ॐ🎬💕 ・・・ Words written by Zadie Smith— On her 10th rule of writing as applied to life: “Resign yourself to the lifelong sadness that comes from never being satisfied... We will never be perfect: that is our limitation. But we can have, and have had, moments in which we can take genuine pride.” - This resonates. As an artist, in choreography, for instance, I never felt satisfied, or that a work was ‘done.’ There was always something to tweak, add, explore further, scrap and redo... at a point, we just have to accept that it is what it is. I have even felt this way about yoga classes I teach, that there is always something I could’ve taught better. But perhaps this is a part of human ingenuity; if we were so easily satisfied, we wouldn’t bother creating, breaking boundaries and glass ceilings in the process. The perspective of a creative is always an interesting one, a mixture of inspiration, sadness, hope and despair. It makes for the best, most authentic art. Otherwise, it’s just sugarcoated, plastic pop ‘art.’ I see a lot of that in dance + yoga + the greater global culture and it makes me feel... meh. Of course one person’s take on art is not necessarily another’s... and that’s fine. I’m on a quest for what is real and I feel that is hard to find these days in a sea of fake, but I’ll keep on keepin’ on. - Another quote I love that I aspire to embody in many ways in my life: “To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson 💜❤️🧡💛💙 - #dance #jump #leap #comedown #beach #ocean #dancer #sunset #igdance #artist #creative #SoCal #SanDiego #keepitreal #imperfection #satisfaction #ingenuity #life #love #thoughts #expression #move #free #beyoutiful 💫💫💫💫💫 (at Encinitas, California)
