Loki Journey Into Mystery Novel by Katherine Locke Chapters 1-4
I think I might be missing some background as the only Loki comic series I have read is Agent of Asgard, but I have seen enough around Tumblr that I think I'll be okay. Not much has happened so far I don't think, but it seems like a good story so long as I remember it isn't MCU Loki. I will definitely be checking out the full graphic novel when I am done.

Ikol vs. Loki (For anyone confused)
In the last few days some (new-ish?) Loki fans have dug out some of my ten or so year old posts about Marvel comic book Lok and felt the need to "Correct" me that I was talking about Ikol and not Loki.
This, folks, is why you should never try to learn about comics from the wikia and should, instead, actually read them before incorrectly correcting people online. Now let me try to explain the Ikol situation because it's a little unnecessarily convoluted. I will be talking about three or four different incarnations of Loki in this post so bear with me, I will try to distinguish between them. Small note: Loki IS gender fluid and answers to all pronouns. Disclaimer: I am going to streamline this explanation otherwise we'll be at it all day as I explain all the unnecessary comic book shenanigans and nitty gritty. _____________________
In 2010 there was a story arc where Loki ultimately sacrificed himself in an act of semi-redemption. I'll call this Original Loki. Original Loki is the one who was the villain for decades in comics.
Fast forward to 2012 and we have a newly reincarnated Kid Loki sort-of created by Thor because... comic books. Kid Loki joined the Young Avengers. During this saga Kid Loki had an anti-conscience, a creepy magpie named Ikol (just Loki spelt backward for anyone who didn't get it). Now if Ikol was really there and created by magick or created by Kid Loki's subconscious is anyone's guess. The Magpie was actually a vessel for all the memories of Original Loki. If Kid Loki ate the magpie (I told you it gets weird!) he will absorb those memories and lose his child-like innocence because he will have all the memories of pain and misdeeds from Original Loki.
He resisted for quite a while but eventually felt he had to ...eat the bird. This is where the Agent of Asgard Loki's repeated wailing memory of "I am the crime that will not be forgiven!" comes from.
In absorbing those memories Kid Loki "died" because his innocence was lost. He now had all the memories of Original Loki. Unable to bear being in the body of the innocent child he "killed" this Loki magically had himself aged up to Youthful adulthood (mistaken as "teen Loki" by a lot of fans on Tumblr even though Kid Loki was the teen form. Kid Loki was physically fourteen. He didn't magically age just two or so years.).
Now adult "Ikol Loki" (Original Loki fully reincarnated) became the Agent of Asgard Loki, having his own comic book in the twenty teens.
Here's where things get a little weird-er. During his adventures Ikol-Loki befriends Verity Williams. Verity is a mutant who can detect any lie even if the person is lying to themselves. This has made her very cynical and jaded but it makes Ikol-Loki feel weirdly safe with her because he can't even deceive himself around her.
Ikol-Loki's main antagonist was a potential future version of himself that was never trusted, never believed in by anyone, never had a friend in all his efforts as Agent of Asgard and never let him redeem himself. This unforgiven version of Ikol-Loki gave up on himself and the world. I'm going to call this Unforgiven Loki.
This older Unforgiven Loki went back in time to try to corrupt the recently reformed Ikol-Loki so he'd stop struggling, stop trying to be good, and face that no one would ever forgive or accept him. (Angsty, right?)
Anyway, Unforgiven-Loki bungles things and all his efforts to corrupt Ikol-Loki in his redemption arc ultimately end with Ikol-Loki realizing he has changed. He has friends, one that can see through all his lies and can see good in him. Verity. Unforgiven-Loki never had Verity. He accidentally caused Ikol-Loki to meet Verity. Verity helped save Ikol-Loki from himself.
At the end of Agent of Asgard Ikol-Loki took on a new title. God of Stories. This was a replacement for the previous title Original Loki had of "God of Lies."
In 2016 or so Ikol-Loki ran for president of the USA to try to subtly make up for having shattered the life of a young reporter back when he was still Original Loki. This was the comic "Vote Loki."
Currently Ikol-Loki AKA formerly Agent of Asgard Loki AKA God of Stores Loki, is still running around Marvel 616 (Main Marvel continuity) and in 2019 he defeated Nightmare (The living embodiment of Nightmares, previously a Doctor Strange Villain and ruler of The Dream Dimension.)
So why does the Marvel Wiki call the current good Loki by Ikol Loki? Well, it's just an easy way to differentiate with the other incarnations of Loki and it leaves room for if Marvel decides to bring back an evil Loki (which they already kind of did with Unforgiven Loki and Ultimate Universe Loki but that one's a different continuity.)
Also Unforgiven Loki is still around. He was from the timeline where Ikol-Loki gave up on himself. And eventually Marvel may just have that one go by Loki while the good one still retains the Ikol nickname (though Ikol-Loki does answer to Loki in the comics).
There. I'm not sure if that clears things up or not but that's it. That's the Loki saga.
doodles from a month ago. i felt they were too good to not post
Here's a painting of Loki that I made today.
