hold on. i just realized. jadzia probably knew cardassians flirt by arguing this whole time. lieutenant 'it's not like he's not really your friend' dax really HAS been anti-wingworming this whole time. tobin dax and his tragic badly-subliminated love affair with iloja of prim sitting at the edges of her consciousness judging garak for being a shameless shoulder-groping hussy. iloja was much classier AND his exile was caused by him being devoted to his sexy dissident poetics, not by being a weak link in whatever ethical horrorscape is going on in the obsidian order these days. none of this nonsense will be flying towards a friend of dax's, that's for sure.

my close & dear friend iloja of prim. getting cuntier & wonkier every time i draw him

i kept referring to iloja of prim as '"iloja de prim" in my head while i was figuring out his design. i got my languages mixed up again i guess, but i thought it would sound cool as a phonetic translation of his name in kardasi (pronounced "deh"). so there.

anyway, a lot of fics have given iloja xenophilic tendencies to justify his exile, but imo he was just very scandalous in general. a little jab here, a subtle metaphor that only a handful of people would understand there... i mean he was also a xenophile for sure but the other thing was what got him exiled i prommy

regarding his design: i gave him a lighter coloration at first to make him look older/ wiser (i was also using this method for an OC) but i ended up using a warmer tone so it would give a contrast with some traditional face paint in white. and,, ridge piercings. i suppose those would feel kind of like getting a nose bridge pierced.

the chufa is colored in a warmer tone because he wouldn't like colors clashing with each other blablabla and i also like to think blue isn't the only color you can paint it with. it's artistic, not just suggestive (but it's very much suggestive with this man methinks)

the face paint would've served as protection from the sun at first, but others included patterns and elaborate symbols so it became a quiet form of self-expression during iloja’s era. many rebellious cardassians used face paint to defy gender norms as well but i still have to work on that ┐⁠(⁠´⁠ー⁠｀⁠)⁠┌

idea in my mind that i didnt develop into a drawing. litsen to me clears my throat .

iloja used to call tobin dax what would be translated from kardasi as "spotted" (for obvious reasons). However it was also some ancient brand of vegetable spread or idk. this is inspired by fellow travellers with hawk calling tim "skippy" (also i didn't even finish that series...i think i got to the foot worship part and forgot about it)

i Have this big comic thing angst bs planned just you see. i love speculating things about a poet mentioned in dialogue and in novels alone. it's like a barbie doll
