Chapter 2 (Chapter 1 here)
Canon and OC; Deigo x OC, Klaus x OC platonic
*as always I do not own any part of the canon characters or show. I am merely writing my own adaptation to the storyline. Nor do I own any gifs/gif credit.
**I do own all things related to the OCs and additional story elements. And apologies, I couldn't find any "young" gifs of them, but they are all meant to be young adults to show age in this fic.

"What do you mean you're not Emily?!" he asked harshly.
"My name is Phoebe," she said more steadily.
"Well, then where is Emily?" he asked expectantly.
Helping Klaus was becoming more exhaustive than he anticipated.
"There's no Emily here," she answered almost reluctantly.
You have got to be kidding.
He did not have time for this. Although he could see the brainwashing skills of the nuns and it was impressive. This girl was obviously steadfast in her devotion to the convent.
"Look," he started irritated. "I don't know if you're trying to cover for her given her "affliction", but there is an Emily here. Emily Fairchild. Her parents abandoned her here when she was six on the ridiculous assumption that she was possessed. That's the girl I'm looking for and I was told by a very reliable source that she would be here, so if you aren't her, then where is she?"
Her eyes widened. He was telling her about her own experience. Initially her parents regarded her as a miracle sent straight to them by God himself. That was until her abilities began to show. It was little things at first - a broken mug slipping off the table or a doll thrown during a tantrum.
Everything around her began reacting to her emotions. It wasn't until the fateful day her mother grabbed her for yet another time-out that things took a turn for the worse. The fear in her mother's eyes said enough for Dahlia to know things would never be the same, though as a child she hadn't been prepared for just how different her life would be.
"She isn't here because she doesn't exist."
"Goddamnit Klaus," he cursed his brother under his breath. "Alright. Fine," he added, begrudgingly going along with her belief. "Then who am I trying to find?"
She bit at her bottom lip and slowly pointed to herself.
Five was becoming increasingly frustrated. Klaus had really done it now. How he had been 'besties' with this girl and hadn't even know her name was beyond him. And at this point most.
"Well then, Emily who doesn't exist, you are coming with me."
Just as he reached out to take hold of her and zap back to his brothers in waiting, a nun opened her door. "Phoebe I thought I heard voices, what are you...up...to...now."
The two stared up at her blankly - deer caught in the headlights of her surprise entrance.
"Oh dear Lord," the sister said quietly.
"Mother Superior, I don't know --" Phoebe began futilely.
The nun quickly pulled up a whistle hung 'round her neck and blew into it furiously as she rushed across the room and grabbed hold of Phoebe's other arm. The poor girl was now the rope in a tug of war between her rescue and captivity. Two other nuns appeared from nowhere and started to join in with their mother superior.
"Fuck this," Five finally said with a roll of his eyes and popped out of existence with Phoebe and her overprotective Mother Superior.
Diego glanced down at his watch. "They've been in there too long. Something's wrong," he said glancing back to the convent.
"Relax. Five knows what he's doing," Klaus said brushing his worry off. "Plus if he was causing a ruckus don't you think we would have noticed by now. This place is dead silent," he added motioning toward the building. "Dark and undisturbed. We're fine."
The trio landed beside the waiting duo with a small, soft thud in the grass. Klaus' eyes grew wide at the sight of their unintended guest. Diego glared at his brother. "Should I relax now?"
The nun, though discombobulated for a moment, soon began screaming. The front door to the convent flung open and two more sisters ran out. Phoebe never had a chance to react when Klaus grabbed hold of her and took off through the woods - followed by his brothers, the nun right behind.
The sound of sirens sounded in the distance. As they grew louder red and blue lights flashed through the trees.
"What the hell happened?!" Diego shouted as they ran.
"Emily doesn't exist," Five spat with a glare Klaus' way.
"What?!?" he replied, shocked. He looked back at her. She was right there. How did she not exist? Five must be losing it. His time skipping had finally warped his mind. Klaus gripped tighter to her hand and quickened his pace.
Diego quickly strung together two of his knives and flung them at the trees, tripping their closest pursuer. "Ha!" He exclaimed with a momentary celebration over his victory.
Phoebe watched as the woman fell to a heap of black clothing, disappearing into the darkness as they continued on. The quartet managed to duck behind a few larger trees as police cars came into view. Diego leaned against his knees. Five against a tree. Klaus's fingers slipped from hers and he dropped to the ground. All four were out of breath, chests heaving as they fought to fill their lungs.
The snap of a nearby twig and the bark of a dog brought Diego and Five back to their current attempt at escape. They grabbed the others and in a small flash they were back at the academy.
