I am pretty suspicious of the recent Animal Farm adaptation. My reservations are mostly speculative. They're based primarily in my own opinions and vibes.
I think there's just something about Orwell as a writer that has people of virtually every ideology convinced that his writing supports THEIR beliefs. So I already struggle to divorce news of any Orwell adaptation from the team that's making it.
Maybe it's weird of me to want a solid explanation for why this guy wanted to adapt specifically Animal Farm, as opposed to any other book. I think read somewhere that he wanted to "introduce it to a younger generation". But I think Orwell's novella is most commonly ready by younger folks. From my understanding it's one of the most commonly assigned books in Western High Schools.
Like Orwell has other writings that could benefit from being introduced to younger audiences. He has one specific book that deals with tech corruption, which is apparently a theme introduced in the 2025 Animal Farm.
Am I saying I would prefer to see Seth Rogan playing Big Brother in an animated 1984? You know, I was going to say I wasn't. But writing it out like that I've decided I absolutely am, actually.
