I’ve not seen this mentioned on tumblr yet so for my Mumbai people in light of the recent passing of Bill 79 there is a protest organised in Azad Maidan tomorrow.

The passing of this bill poses a very scary future not just for the trans community but for the entire queer community and also the other marginalised groups in our country. But it’s not an Act yet so there’s still things that can be done so it is very important that even if you aren’t part of the groups affected you show up as an ally for the community.

the indian goverment has just pushed queer rights in india back by decades, the 2026 transgender bill act is really just an anti trans bill, it would remove trans women,nonbinary people and trans men from the defintion of transgender in the nation, and you will only be legally allowed to call yourslef trnas if you have gone through absolute surgery and it would be verifed by a board who know absolutely nothing about queer and trans people,only the kinnar/hijra comunity is conisdred trans now, the bill also says that a person assaulting, physicaly and /or sexually abusing a trans person will only face punishments for 6 months to 2 years while for a cis person that is 7 or so years. why this discrimnation,are trans people not human,are they not citzens,do they not bleed red like you do. Now the goverment wants to go after removal of sec 377 which decrimnalised homsexual activty in india in 2018(no other legal rights granted) the current pm calls the removal "unconstuional" becuse it was based on "constitiuaonal moral" which is "vague".... who is gonna tell this motherfucker that laws in inda are all modelled after the princpal of the constition and that no law ccan be upheld above the constituion and that the these"vague morals" you say are the basic princapal of on what bais to make laws, and that right to equality and right to dignity, are all fucking there, please spread awarness about this becuse i dont know what else to do but we cant let these motherfukers take away basic human rights from queer pepole they already took awya trans people rights now they will go after gay people, btw the bill was passed in 18 DAYS,IN ACOUNTRY WHERE PASSING BILLS TAKES DECADES THEY PAASSED IT IN 18 DAYS WHAT A JOKE .

Is India safe for Women and LGBTQIA+?

India is a beautiful country with equity and equality, this is what I learnt through books but in real life it is not. India has a lot of corruption, gender inequality and dirty politics.

Now, I would be talking about gender inequality. In India, only heterogenous men has the upper hand and, rest sex and sexuality are under their foots. The Indian government has took many steps to empower some sects of oppressed sex and sexuality, for an example, reservation in Gram Panchayat(Local body) for the women, reservation for women in competitive exams, special security forces and etc.. but still women are oppressed because of the patriarchy and social stigmas. Comparing to other sexes and sexuality, the women are empowered and safe even though India has high rate of women being raped, dowry murder, forced marriage etc...still, they are better than the unsaid pain suffered by the other sexes and sexuality. As, I am not a woman; I don't know their pain and can't express their thoughts and pain-they suffered but I can express the pain of queer community. They are many cases in India where several queer community members are raped, bullied, forced into marriage and discriminated. The Delhi Hight Court decriminalized the consensual same-sex in 2009 by several decades of fighting fulfilled the dreams of several centuries but still at many places people thought it was crime and forbade from anal intimacy. In 2013, the Supreme Court of India reversed the decision in order to protect male and transgender rapes but the most reason was to bring so called "Natural order " influenced by several religions, this lead the queer community to fight again and finally in 2018, the Supreme Court decriminalized the Section 377. After this victory too, the queer community had and has to face social stigma and labels of "Haram", "demon" from the religious communities. The Supreme Court of India rejected the idea of marriage of queer as it is not a fundamental right then I want to ask what about our other rights like right to equality? We, queer are often discriminated and bullied. Almost all the households in India see us as a parasite to their so called " Natural Society by god's order." When people want to abuse and scold a stranger or friend they use the words 'Gay', 'Chakka', and Still, there are many transgenders refused to be employed due to their identity and Homosexuals fired or differentiated in work and many more. For them, we are the most awful category and when we come out with our sexuality, we are discriminated and outcasted from the society and has the Court has taken any actions for it? the answer is No. There is not punishment for queerphobia in India. In fact, even the officials and assembly men use it, and encourage the discrimination and discriminate us but now, there is huge active activists trying and fighting their best to bring this down , even the media supports it from behind the screens. I wish as the time moves forward, the discrimination should end and the queer flag and women flag are safe under the Indian Flag and wish the legislature to bring new ideas to end this discrimination. In final verdict, India is more safe for women than queer but not safer than heterogenous men. Both the queer community and the women has to rise their voice for their rights in India, and may be this can bring further change and improve the improving India in the matters of Sex and Sexual orientation discrimination. India still needs to fight to be completely safe for Women and Queer community ,and I wish it can bring equality like Thailand and Taiwan. Thankyou.

Let's talk about how lonely it feels once you realize that everyone you grew up with hates an integral part of what you are. Let's talk about wondering what goes through your friends' minds when they make crude, insulting jokes while knowing that you're queer. About learning the hard way that acceptance cannot be your default expectation in the world you live in. Let's talk about the horrible game you have to play with every person who isn't openly declaring their hate for gay people to figure out where a person stands on queerness without ever mentioning them. About how you already know what the result will be, but you allow yourself to have a tiny bit of wretched hope every time that you will be proven wrong, only to be proven right every time. About learning to expect the worst instead of the best from people. Let's talk about how people don't even use slurs because 'gay' is insult enough to them. About how tired and alone and pissed you feel. About being exhausted of compromise, compromise, compromise when all you want is to be loved for who you are. About wondering why can't people just let people be. Let's talk about smiling awkwardly and faking laughter at jokes that make you die a little inside. About wanting to scream and fight but knowing that ultimately, it's useless. And let's talk about feeling completely, utterly, helpless to do anything about any of it.
