If tumblr shuts down, an indie roleplayers network to find your rp partners elsewhere
So, I want us, as a community, to be prepared in case this site shuts down. Is it going to shut down? We don't know. The staff layoffs, according to people who have worked on tumblr previously, seem to indicate that something is happening with management, which could be them selling the site, or wanting to shut it down. (sources: x, x.)
Maybe (probably?) the site will continue to exist and the list never needs to be utilised. But at least I personally would feel a lot better about every "oh no tumblr will shut down" rumour if I knew I could find my rp partners elsewhere. I've long since made backup accounts on pillowfort (and cohost before they shut down), but currently the most viable options seem to be wafrn and goblin. @leneemusing has tested out wafrn here. I had no trouble with account creation on any of these sites.
I've made a form here, for any indie roleplayer to submit their tumblr username and a backup account link.
A .doc with the list is here.
Reblog to spread the word, send me an ask if you have questions, etc.
I don't have any rules for this - any indie roleplayer can have their information on the list. Some further thoughts under the readmore.

It can be a struggle to find folks who write fairy tale & folklore muses in the indie rpc, so please feel free to add yourself to the masterlist, LINKED HERE. 🧚♀️
To get added to the list automatically, fill out the form LINKED HERE, and reblog so other people can find it!
If you don't want to fill out the form, reblog and tag with the following info and I'll add you manually:
URL
Character Name
Single or Multimuse
Mythos of Origin, if any
Original or Canon Character
Species
Fandom, if any
Anything else you want to include
Example: Archaeval / The Lady Ruby / Single Muse / Classic Fairy Lore / Original / Drider/Fairy / Fandomless / Fandom Verses Available
Hi Tumblr. The transmission in my car went to shit. Here's the GoFundMe to help me raise funds to get something (used) new or pay to get the transmission fixed.
Further Info Under Cut
Let’s be honest for a second. The English-speaking RP community on Tumblr has turned a fun, creative hobby into a bureaucratic, non-paid office job. It’s no longer about writing; it’s about who has the most over-designed page and the longest list of mental health warnings.
You find a blog that claims to write a dark, monster-like, psychological character. You think, "Great, let's build a gritty story." But before you can even say hello, you are forced to go through a border control checkpoint.
You have to provide a "passport" (a fully coded RP blog), read 30 pages of over-complicated guidelines, master HTML/CSS, and match their six-color aesthetic menus. Since when do you need a graphic design degree just to type some text?
And the absolute hypocrisy of the "Highly Selective" elite is hilarious. They plaster their main pages with slogans against bigotry, homophobia, and for "safe spaces." But the moment a polite, respectful newcomer sends a direct message asking for a simple, private Discord plot—they panic. They scream in caps lock, dump their personal 15-year-old traumas on the billboard, brag about spending weeks scrolling TikTok instead of writing, and slap a "denied entry" ban on you.
You are using legendary, canon characters as templates to feed your own real-life egos. You don't want a co-author; you want a captive audience to like your aesthetics and validate your medical charts.
In other roleplay cultures, like Eastern Europe, people just drop a DM, say "Hi, let's write," and jump straight into a brilliant, active story. No complicated codes. No trading traumas. Just pure talent and imagination.
Tumblr RP isn't a writer's club anymore. It's a hospital reception desk run by power-tripping clerks. Change my mind. !!!
