The most exhausting thing in life, I have discovered, is being insincere.

There is a very good reason why we should not have a multi-millionaire running the country.
“Exruciating': Rishi Sunak filmed asking homeless man if he works in business as PM serves food at shelter." (LBC: 24/12/22)
It really is time Sunak stopped the pretence that he cares for ordinary people. Instead of posing for publicity gimmicks that misfire, what he should be doing is devoting his energy and time to do something that really helps the homeless - like building more affordable social housing.
"To be able to say how much you love is to love but little."

Almost the entire left just ignored the ethnic cleansing of Yemen's last remaining Jews (who now go where?), so I absolutely do view most people's claims to oppose "ethnic cleansing" with respect to Palestine as insincere and malicious.
It's not because I hate the left, but because of what the left is doing. It's a choice to ignore things like this, an active, ongoing choice. One made over and over. "I'm not going to talk about the ethnic cleansing of Jews from Yemen. I'm not going to talk about..." And this choice is made because of some people's fear, other people's malice, other people's indifference, other people’s sense that talking about this won’t get them progressive points and might even make them lose a substantial amount.
A two-thousand-year-old community was just 100% ethnically cleansed from what had been their country for longer than Islam had existed. This isn't a metaphor or an exaggeration or a branding tactic. It's literally the thing that just happened and no one cares about it.
The great enemy of clear language is insincerity. When there is a gap between one's real and one's declared aims, one turns, as it were, instinctively to long words and exhausted idioms, like a cuttlefish squirting out ink.
