This was intentional and not a coincidence, it was after Luke rushed home after Antonia and the friend group not only leaked his location, but they also arranged for him to get papped without his knowledge and he was clearly upset about it, which made Nic upset.

This was one of the many times she defended Luke, meanwhile Luke haters decided he was the bad guy without knowing what really happened, assuming he broke Nic's heart but here she was defending him again

This kind of love doesn't just go away and she was showing us where her heart was but people assume things just by looking at moments in time without knowing the context.
