Hey guys. How's it going? So I've had the pleasure to attend the @dramsylvania_whisky festival this weekend in Cluj, and what a really nice event it was! 😍 I had the chance to taste a lot of whisky and attend a couple of master classes at which I one not one but two drams of this exquisite Glenfarclas 1954 The family casks! ❤️😱 This was bottled in 2013 making it a 59yo whisk! Now that's pure awesomeness in a bottle if you ask me 🙂 I've fulfilled one of my goals of having a dram of whisky that is older than me 😄. Has anyone of you guys tasted this lovely scotch? If so, what do you think of it?🙂 Obviously I loved it, a 59yo sherry bomb 🥃😍👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻. . Hey guys. How's it going? So I told you yesterday that my good friend @whiskypeater sent me, from the goodness of his heart, a couple of samples. Just to be clear, these are whisky samples 😄 I decided to start off with the Glen Scotia. This is the 2008 Ruby Port Finish expression. Here is my review: Nose: Right off the bat I get a subtle hint of smoke, after I can feel notes of nuts, chocolate, vanilla and forest fruit. Palate: The smoke is more proeminent then on the nose. Vanilla again with chocolate and berries(maybe, it's very subtle). Finish: Long and dry. It's a bit sweet and I can feel some blackberries shrouded in burnt oak wood. It's an interesting whisky, a bit on the peated side, not too strong though. I would say it's a good Campbeltown scotch 👌🏻 Thank you Peter for a really nice sample. More follows so stay tuned 😉. Of course I had to include a good stick here to finish things off 😉. Hi guys. How's it going? I'm starting off this week with tasting session number 2 for the @whiskypeater samples 😉 This time we have two peated whiskies: The Talisker DE and the Millstone PX 2013. Both are, like I said, peated. While the Talisker DE was somehow familiar, the Millstone was completely new and maybe a bit too much for me 😂 So, here are the reviews for these two bad boys 😉. . Talisker Distillery Exclusive Bottling : Nose: I get smoke right away, with sherry, citrus and fruits. As a Talisker signature it's got a coastal salty air to it with a tint of sweet cinnamon and fresh honey. . Palate: The salty notes are there but faded and give way to sugary sweet honey flavors and spices. Again smoky but less than on the nose, with fruits, chocolate and vanilla. . Finish: I would say medium, with subtle salt notes and the smoke which gives way to vanilla and salted caramel. . Millstone PX 2013: Nose: A big smoked and salty kick 😄Surprisingly more salty than the Talisker DE. It has a nice combination of sea salt earthy peat and dried fruit, with minerals and oak. . Palate: It's like a sweet and sour mix, more sour than sweet. Also orange, pepper and roasted oak, then some mint. . Finish: Long, more peat coming through, with a diesel like tinge and some burnt rubber, with some oak and maybe orange. . As a conclusion, I enjoyed the Talisker a lot, it's a solid peated scotch. But the Millstone was a bit too rough I think, I enjoyed it, but I think it's not really "my cup of tea" let's say 🙂 What do you guys think about these two? Which one have you tried?
