the thing abt "oppression olympics" as a kneejerk response to folks discussing prejudices they face that not everyone else does, is it actually says significantly more about how you gamify oppression.

if you correctly understood it's not a contest, why assume someone going through more of it somehow negates yours? why feel the need to deny it and insist every single person's the exact same level of marginalized, that people saying that isn't true only want to get one over you?

anyone can experience transmisogyny because the event of mysogyny and transphobia intersecting inherently affects all people who dont neatly fit into eurocentric gender ideals for feminity/masculinity

mysogyny affects people of all genders and sex characteristics. transphobia inherently affects people of any and all differing or nonconforming gender formes. dichotomirs & intersexism also comes into play, in many of these occasions

a trans dude in the middle of a stereotypical goal of transition will be called a tranny without the perpetrator caring about genitals. i was treated as this freakish broken abomination that wasnt quite man or woman/male or female my entire life despite having a vulva. a <intersex person who isnt necessarily transfem> will also be hurt by transmisogyny, not because of "being confused for a transfemme", but because of intersectional hate. any person of color will very harshly be the aim of this, because of the "EURO" in "eurocentric gender ideals"; the de-gendering targeted towards women of color holds hands with transmisogyny, very firmly so.

it isnt MISdirected, its perfectly aimed and calculated.

these are experiences of transmisogynistic nature. they exist regardless of a person's autonomy & label usage. it is strange & counterproductive to determine that <only a few select trans people with XYZ biology or ABC trans label> will be affected by it. especially when intersex people exist and are targeted by transmisogyny while not fitting into a default perisex transfeminine ideal. that was me for a long time. that has been many people.

its more complicated than that, like most social things are. not everyone facing your oppression alongside you will be a 1:1 mirror of you. sometimes not even 1:10

referring to others as TME due to <their (assumed) genitals / their gender label(s) / their experience with their gender> is useless, cruel and innacurate. in reality, we should be wary and open-eyed to all & any cases where transmisogyny affects real living people, regardless of them being like you.

Sometimes, it is painfully obvious when somebody only knows how to debate a topic to one end.

Like, I'll be talking about how socially acceptable it suddenly becomes to make fun of minorities if you also specify intersectionality with a socially privileged class, such as being white or a cis man.

And then somebody will start going off on me about how adult white autistic women are an underlooked demographic.

I mean, that's correct, yes... but did you know that there are multiple different conversations to be had pertaining to the same topic, such as-- oh, I don't know-- the axises of oppression? Varying manifestations of oppression? Erasure on multiple fronts? Kyriarchy?

Listen, I'm sorry, I see that you saw your activation phrase, but now is not the time. Shutting down a conversation to talk about something you feel is more important does not actually bring you more visibility in the long run, it just shuts down conversations.

You're making stuff that's already hard to talk about even harder to talk about.

the post you screenshotted mentioning racial slurs in comparison makes me believe white lesbians saw how it was around things like the antiblack slur and the variations of it that were used against other PoC, where it actually IS misdirected and antiblack to reclaim if youre not black, and applied it to the d slur and bi women. A LOT of lgbt discourse relies on concepts around racial oppression being misapplied to the lgbt community where it doesnt fit(like non-lesbian/non-bi for example)

racial oppression and lgbt oppression are not comparable (on a large and/or general scale, at least) and Black people are saying this shit all the time, so it's ironic that other white lgbt discoursers claim to uplift voices of color but then ignore them and use this argument for their convenience because it drives me CUH-RAY-ZEE, and every time i see it i lose a year off of my lifespan.

i see lots of sources that are in favor of "dyke" being reclaimed by all sapphics, and obviously i use them to my advantage because they're good, but i wish they also mentioned this because every time i get into a controversy surrounding the 'd' slur, my opposer brings up racial slurs and it's like. Not the same thing??? that is Not the inarguable gotcha you want it to be actually??? and i know how to explain why that's the case but i still wish i had something to refer to, yk??

it’s so fucked how we view history through the lens of today’s systemic intersectional oppression. Most people just can’t conceptualize a social world that wasn’t dictated by our particular brands of cis/heteronormativity and racism and therefore our understanding of history is often incorrect or incomplete
