love watching the poppy war reviews on youtube where they bash on rin saying that she didnt have any character development and she’s annoying. its almost like thats the point. its almost like maybe she is the villain of the story. ever stop and think abt that? how do people read the poppy war and not get the point that it’s a story about someone slowly spiraling into insanity. bcs yknow war can, and will drive u insane. if anything, literally everyone deteriorated by the end. does rf kuang needs to put war bad on her author’s note for u to get it?? with all the talks about wanting to have MCs that ✨aren’t like other MC✨ just proves that some of y’all arent actually ready for it. perhaps u’re just too accustomed to ur watered down YAs where the MC has got to be the hero. the poppy war is literally set in a world where people activates their magic by doing drugs, how do u think this will go down???

what grates me most about these bashing on poppy war trilogy is that these reviewers didnt get what rf kuang is trying to do with her characters. that they are complicated and they are on a war with enemies on every front. and that war is messy and the characters are practically children. of course their characterization wont be set in stone. they’re gonna change their mind, question their decision and beliefs throughout the series. their character development wont be linear. there will be set backs and inconsistency bcs THEY ARE CHILD SOLDIER IN THE FRONT LINE OF A WAR!!! im sorry that ur sorry ass cant see it, but thats how characters with depths are written. im sorry that ur fave characters are so one dimensional and arent interesting enough and their only personality trait is being snarky to the love interest.

dont get me wrong, u can totally dislike books or not enjoy it as much as other people do. i get that people have different taste. but when u want to criticize, at least give valid points without leaving the proper context.

but in terms of the poppy war and what ive seen abt the negative comments so far are dumb at best and honestly at this point just say tht you dont like asian-centric fantasy bcs most often than not the actual villain of the story are white colonizer and that doesnt sit right with u so u spun out garbage abt how its bad writing instead of admitting u’re lowkey racist lmao

It’s so weird to go back and watch older Dr. Who clips with Jack in them, prior to Torchwood, cause his Torchwood look and style is just so fucking iconic. It’s so weird to see him in t-shirts and jackets like a regular person.
