I have had this thought circulating in my head: soft, passive tank just trying to slide under the radar, but he fell in love with an angry DPS who is still processing the deaths of her family, and she now channels that anger by threatening people who are mean to him.

He’s not sure it is how he would handle the situation, but, Maker, she is cute when she’s pissed…do you see the vision?

i know jeremy wells gets a lot of flack for his interpretation of the taskmaster but i love the different spins other taskmasters and assistants put on the role. i feel like paul would lick jeremy’s shoes just as readily as alex would lick greg’s with the difference that jeremy would never ask for that, which, for a taskmaster’s assistant, is its own type of cruelty.

It starts as a joke, is the thing. More accurately, it starts with Lucy dragging him to a cocktail bar, and Tommy moping into his third Sidecar (“Please tell me that’s some sort of gay army euphemism”) while he contemplates, for the millionth time, calling Evan. “So.” Lucy covers his phone with a menu. “Holiday plans?” “Does researching ‘most remote places on earth to wallow’ count?” She sips her old fashioned thoughtfully. “Well, if you really wanna get out of cell range, my buddy says they always need pilots in Antarctica.” It’s a joke. No one spontaneously decides to spend the holidays at the South pole. Two weeks later, his paperwork is filed and he’s on his way.

So do you not think that the sex industry creates a demand for trafficking? You don't see how trafficking rates increase in countries with full decriminalization? I support the Nordic model which only punishes Johns and not the prostitutes. I think that prostitutes should not be shamed for being in that position. They should not be told it is their fault or that there is anything wrong with them. The stigma should not be on them. It's the johns' fault for creating the demand and exploiting them.

I’m really glad that you support the Nordic model because it is one of the more progressive models out there and definitely a step in the right direction…it is an undebatable fact that traffickers need to face consequences for the harm they inflict on people, but those consequences can and should be charged as separate and distinct crimes from the crime of engaging, either as a client or sex worker, in the sex industry. decriminalizing sex work itself would not remove criminal penalties for traffickers, because at least in my country, trafficking is a separate crime that is treated far more seriously and because of the nature of trafficking, there’s also several things classified as crimes that are involved and a trafficker can be charged with.

but the good news is, we are in agreement on the most important issue. the stigma should not be on the survivors and they need extensive support. what’s continuously left out of this conversation is a) the voices and experiences of survivors, who of course will not all agree but all need to be considered, and b) an examination and broader understanding of the realities of trafficking and abuse and how that factors into penalizing trafficking criminally. in such situations, people are living in a constant state of fear. the idea of being charged with a crime because they’re a sex worker is a tool that traffickers use to keep power and control over people. the Nordic model helps with this, but as long as sex work is criminalized in some fashion, that is something that traffickers can use to keep people in fear. one of the reasons trafficking rates seem to increase when there’s full decriminalization is most likely because people feel safer coming forward and disclosing about it.

the concept of trafficking also remains similar no matter what industry it occurs in. vacant jobs and higher demands for various goods and services, while they may be a contributing factor, do not cause labor trafficking. this is also true for sex work. higher demand for sex workers, while it is a factor, is not what causes sex trafficking.
