Tonight's fare: Dead Outlaw
We are so lucky to have a show like this on Broadway. If it was any less of a writing team, this show would be a fringe favorite and maybe not get much further. But it's on Broadway, and it should be. I hope it runs for a long, long time. This is what theatre should be.
This is maybe just my weird brain, but I think it goes in a place like Great Comet. Epic story. Keen reflection on a singular human experience. Modern storytelling/music-making. (And, not for nothing: catchy music.)
And yes, I do love me some Yazbek. I find myself always wanting more. In a good way.
By the way, I sat in the very last row of the balcony, in the house right corner, and had zero problem seeing what was going on. Props to the Longacre's sightlines and David Cromer's direction.
