love it when people are acting naive/obtuse, like i just saw popular tweet "why s1 of iwtv is the only one that doesn't have perfect rating on rotten tomatoes, i felt like it was the best one?". like, dude, the answer is anti-black racism. the show was review bombed. look at the comments under the trailer for s1, it's mostly racists hating on jacob. obviously reviews for s2 & s3 are mostly from the fans of the show! how long people can play ignorant and ask these questions, we all know why & we need to call it out instead.

Claudia will always suffer at the hands of her parents, will never have a moment of peace because they can’t let her go and be her own person, will always be loved as a concept by them but never as a person, a sister or daughter, taken advantage as an emotional support doll by them. Claudia’s fate was sealed the night Louis decided he wanted a reason to not be seen as something more than a monster, as someone who thought he was doing a good deed but he and Lestat did the exactly opposite.

They doomed Claudia to an eternity of misery, suffering, disrespect, disregard and death because as she said. It was never about her, it was about their stormy romance!

Wow, Joseph Potter was so amazing as Nicki, really makes you wish the flashbacks had an actual narrative throughline and structure so these scenes could have emotional weight and not feel like a clip show

Can I be honest?

Rolin has some real nerve having shit talked s1-2 and how s3 is SOO much better because “stuff actually happens” and then NOT delivering a better show.

I love TVL don’t get me wrong, but I’m agreeing with reviewers so far that’s it’s not quite up to par w s1-2 so far.

The story telling feels rushed at times, and it doesn’t let you sit with an emotional moment and feel its weight. My first reaction so the first two episodes of s1-2 were both filled with tears, me on the seat of my edge, feeling everything.

And yes I understand we’re supposed to be in Lestats head and he’s running from his feelings. But the story telling suffers from it.

Rolin… you need to kiss Jacob and Assads bc they slayed. Not saying they just sat in a room all season 1-2 to make s3 seem better in comparison - when you didn’t deliver a better viewing experience!!

It’s just like.. Lestat:

Stayed away from Louis after dropping him from the sky which left him incredibly injured out of a profound sense of shame

Saved Louis at the trial, yes, but then left him to starve in ‘exile’

These are both situations where Lestat has knowledge that Louis is in pain and doesn’t check in with him. Many viewers can understand that Lestat can both care for Louis and his pain and yet be too human to rid himself of the shame of causing that pain and therefore withholding himself. However, when it’s Louis suddenly he must immediately divest himself of all pain to cradle Lestat. Louis is supposed to feel bad about publishing the book and causing Lestat pain and yet if that manifests in a way that isn’t groveling then it’s wrong.

The thing is, I don’t even agree that the book was Louis fault and I think it’s wishful thinking that Louis would rush to Lestat over something that is basically a paper cut to vampires. However, Lestat was hurt by the publishing of the book and we know from previous episodes that’s something Louis empathizes with / thinks is partially his fault. Why then is if not out of the question that Louis would want to go to Lestat, but be too ashamed? Why now doesn’t he care about Lestat?

oof okay so here is an entire rant about ep 3 of interview with the vampire so obviously there’s gonna be spoilers

okay so i’ve seen people say that gender swapping antoine was “straight washing” or “unnecessary” well in this rant imma tell you how it all makes sense

firstly although louis does not (in the flashback or during the interview) say how he felt about lestat and antoinette being together they SHOWED it instead.

here you can see other people all around not paying any mind to lestat and antoinette being together because why would they care? they’re two white people, a man and a woman

louis and jonah are on the floor below where antoinette is kissing lestat but his attention is on louis. i also believe this was to show a type of power imbalance, lestat and antoinette are two white people being perceived as a hetero couple and are high above the ground where the two queer black men who cannot express any type of affection towards one another in public are seated

louis looked up to see lestat kissing antoinette while lestat is looking down on him and jonah, if louis was bothered by anything happening it’s not like he could say so because 1. lestat had just told him that he likes variety and had (not in exact words) told louis he was bisexual and 2. louis was a black man that couldn’t/didn’t want to be perceived as weak so if he wanted to express his hurt it wouldn’t be in public and honestly probably not even to lestat as he still doesn’t want to be seen as weak to anyone

i think they pulled a show not tell, they wanted to show the watchers the imbalance of power, the way that louis had to take jonah away from the public just to be with him but lestat could be with antoinette in front of everyone and no one would bat an eye, how that although it’s mentioned multiple times during the ep that people around them are aware of the nature of louis and lestat’s relationship it still wasn’t acceptable in society for them to be together in public like it was easily acceptable for lestat and antoinette

imo i think the gender swap paid off because if they hadn’t done it a good portion of the ep would’ve been null since even though antoine and lestat are both white they’re still men and wouldn’t have been rubbed in louis’s face as a more “acceptable” couple
