Review: Final Space Season 2
As of this past Monday, Final Space Season 2 has come to a close! We are big fans of the show and were so happy to hear when the second season was announced. There are thirteen episodes in this season, which is an increase from the previous one. There are many new things in this season, so let’s get into it! Spoiler free, of course.
If you watched the first season and enjoyed it, then you will be happy to know that this season keeps so many of the aspects we loved in season one. This feels like a natural progression from the last one. The tone is still very similar. There is humor thrown around throughout the show, yet Final Space still finds a way to be serious and address real issues. There is a great deal of relational drama that is dealt with from most of the characters. It exposes a more real side to the characters and we love it.
The characters have even better development this season! We get to see so many characters grow as they relate to the rest of the crew. Gary has come a long way. We get a great deal of progress from Lil Cato as well. They step up the game from the last season.
The story is fantastic, as always. Final Space creates an entirely new universe that flows really well together. There are crazy intense plants and really funny ones. It is all so creative and fun to see what will be thought of next. The creator, Olan Rogers, does such an amazing job with the show.
Our only problem with the show is the same as the first season. It seems like the pace is a little fast. The episodes just fly by with so much happening in them. Part of that is sheer enjoyment, but it also seems like the story is a little bit rushed. However, that is something that can be overlooked. Final Space is a fantastic show and really is enjoyable. Please give it a try!
Also, if you are familiar with Olan Rogers, his YouTube channel and his business, you will find a lot of different references throughout the show. Including one from the last episode we really liked related to the Soda Parlor in Nashville, one of our favorite places to visit! Season 3 has already been confirmed as well, so keep an eye out next year.

“this picture isn’t relevant to what I want to talk about but to be fair when are they ever lol. But please read closely. I have a friend called Jake Sidwell. We met in Nashville due to our mutual pal tessa who realised we had the same mental health condition as we both described the sensation of fading away to her in different ways. We folded tshirts together for tour and gushed to each other about how horrible it was to walk into a brightly lit supermarket, or how bad our memory was nowadays and how difficult it was to explain to anyone else. He was the first person I’d ever met who felt the same as I did and it was so, so incredible and comforting to know that I wasn’t alone. We text each other now and again to fill each other in on how our brains are doing and tips we’ve learned to help.
Since tour last year, Jake was diagnosed with late stage Lyme disease, which explained the depersonalisation. I sent him well wishes and we chatted a bit about it, but I’ve been super busy recently so I haven’t checked in with Jake as much as I’d like.
Jake posted an update video the other day, of himself on a bad day. It was terrifying.
I am shocked and scared, but mostly, I am angry. I am angry at the world for not taking mental illnesses as seriously as others; for all the chronic pain sufferers who aren’t being heard or believed, to the people like me who on my bad days have sobbed down the phone to multiple doctors, begging for an answer and instead getting scepticism and feeling patronised. If anyone knows a way to help Jake, please leave a comment - you can watch his video on his channel, it’s called “I’m still here”. If you know stories of people recovering, please share those too!
If you know nothing about Lyme, all I can ask is that when someone tells you they are in pain, you listen, and you believe them. I am not really a religious person, but Jake has asked for prayers. I asked god to look after Jake, and I know he would like it if you would too <3
I don’t personally know Jake Sidwell, but I have been a long time viewer of his youtube channel.
He recently spoke out about battling the extreme effects of Lyme’s Disease for over a year in this video on his channel. It broke my heart to see him like this. Olan Rogers, a close friend of Jake’s has started a GoFundMe campaign on behalf of Jake to raise money for treatment. Over half of the money for the treatment has already been raised, but together we can raise the rest!
