bylearn where mr. wheeler brings up mr. byers at least once every class to the point that their students make a betting pool to see how many times mr. wheeler would mention him during a particular class. history teacher, mr. sinclair finds out about it by listening to gossip circulating during class and tells vice principal mayfield about it. mr. henderson and ms. hopper learn about it last and they all gather to decide the funniest possible way to tell will and mike about it. they work with the kids to plan a class where they count out loud until mike figures it out and get will in there for some reason.

when the plan is enacted it goes like this:

mr. wheeler: mr. byers actually noticed this detail in the book

student: 1!!

...

mr. wheeler: mr. byers should have already taught you the importance of sun symbolism in creative work

student: 2!!

mr. wheeler: wtf

...

mr. wheeler: i believe mr. byers showed you a photo of the artwork mentioned in this passage

student: 3!!

mr. byers, from the back of the classroom: they're counting everytime you mention me

student: they figured it out!

student who runs the betting pool: those betting on the third mention please see me during lunch

mr. wheeler: you all know we're married right?

students: yoU'RE WHAT???!!!
