Fic idea: Bruce and Jason get into a big fight, both physical and verbal, and it ends with Jason getting kicked out of Gotham for some arbitrary amount of time.
Jason sorts out everything he needs to with his gang and then simply vanishes without a trace.
Bruce thinks that Jason will be back in city limits the second the time for his exile is up. Then the time comes and goes and there's no sign of Red Hood or Jason. He makes the rest of the family search all the safe houses they know of and locations he frequents etc. and there's just no sign of him.
Bruce doesn't panic though, no. He knows that Jason will come back sooner rather than later no matter what happens. The others aren't so sure.
Tim and Babs decide to start searching for Jason using their many channels and find out that no one has seen Jason since before he was banished from Gotham. They check the cameras from the time he was banished to see if they can't track him. They see him clearing out each and every one of his safe houses, putting anything he holds value in into some sort of magic ring and then smashing the bug in that apartment. This pattern continues until the final apartment where instead of destroying the bug it simply goes staticy and when the video comes back Jason is gone and what remains is an extremely faint whisp of green smoke.
The family assume the worst, that he was kidnapped by the LoA and they've left him alone in Ra's' clutches for months. After breaking into a few bases and then going to beat Ra's himself they find out that it's not the league.
After it's been about a year of literally no trace of Jason anywhere on the planet Bruce finally decides to ask the justice league for help at their next meeting which is unfortunately being attended by Kyle Rayner as Hal and John were currently on some mission in space. As soon as Kyle hears Batman's request he bursts out laughing much to the horror of the other leaguers and anger of Batman.
Kyle, despite having one of the deadliest Bat-Glares™ the league has ever seen leveled at him is still doubled over laughing. When he finally regains his composure about half an hour later due to several relapses into laughter, he activates his communicator and up pops a hologram call to Troia and when she finally picks up the calls shows he half asleep and half dressed in bed with a sleeping and clearly butt naked Jason Todd both of which are covered in scratches and hickeys and bite marks that clearly come from 2 different people.
Before Kyle can even say anything beyond "Hey babe do you mind waking Jayce up? His old man is worried" (I don't know much about Kyle let alone how he talks so just imagine something to the same effect) Batman sweeps out of the room clearly livid and made even more so when he hears the echoes of laughter from several people both physically present and not
