I love my job. But man...being a Kinder/Pre-K teacher gives me respect for the Jedi Masters who looked after the younglings. Sometimes I look at these little ones and go "Thank god they don't have the Force" I also talked to my coworkers who all immediately were like "Yep." That being said now I am just cracking up at the idea of Jedi Masters: 1) Teaching table manners, reminding the spacey kids to eat, reminding them all to drink water (constantly- even in summer my kids think nah we don't gotta drink anything) 2) Preventing the children from doing dangerous things (main job) 3) Being approached with nonexistent wounds and bandaging them up nonetheless/comforting the child. 4) Reading the same stories, singing the same songs countless times cause children love repetition. And learn through it. Also dancing~!

5) Teaching the children about respecting their own feelings, but not letting it control their actions (I do this all the time and its some of my fave lessons to do with them.)

Maybe I should explore this more later down the road XD XD

Oh to be a jedi sitting in the room of a thousand fountains, meditating with my other jedi friends, listening to the sound of younglings chasing each other around a pool of water and feeling the presence of my ten thousand strong family.

Recently read Jedi Apprentice: Hidden Past (lemme tell you how hard this series was to track down and buy) and there’s this part where’s the bad guy is trying to wipe Obi-Wan’s memories, but he’s hanging on with both hands and his teeth and thinking of all the good things in his life. Which leads to this:

So, I can pretty much ignore everything I’ve read that indicates Obi-Wan was an itty bitty baby when he was taken to the temple and never remembered his family? Yes, I think so. (And I finally know where the damn rock comes from that shows up in so many fics)

Then, there’s this:

Wait. What? That’s… an odd coincidence, but okay. (Is there a fic where Owen Lars is really his brother? I’d be down with reading that)

And then this:

In a nutshell, someone took him home to visit to see his family again when he was old enough to connect in some way and remember them later. Yep, he let them go to return to the temple, but the Jedi certainly didn’t completely cut him off, either.

I find this enlightening and fascinating and full of possibilities.

The war effort requires everything the Jedi can give. Jaro Tapal shields Cal as best he can, but sometimes Cal is the only one who can find the answers they need. 

Today, Jaro needs to know why he has a dead clone battalion on the agricultural planet of Mepan VII, and he needs to know now. The Force is uneasy, swirling with dismay.

Strangely, the crops are dead too, rotted from the inside out.

Cal holds himself as tall as he can, as composed as a Jedi his age can be. He looks up at Jaro, awaits his orders.

Like a good soldier.

Jaro nods. "Tell me what you find."

Cal walks into a base littered with bodies, pulling echoes out of the Force. After a few minutes, Jaro sees Cal freeze, feels the distance between them as Cal leaves the present and fades into the past where Jaro cannot follow. Emotions boil, roar, erupt and Cal comes back with a choking cry.

Jaro is at his side. He braces Cal with one large hand. "Padawan?"

"Separatists," Cal says with all the emotional control he can muster. "It's a new weapon. A chemical." His hands curl into fists, his face so pale his freckles stand out more than ever. "Everyone died. Poisoned." He swallows, pressing his lips together until he can speak again. "It was slow." Cal sways. Jaro tightens his hold. "They were so sick."

Jaro praises Cal, tells him he can return to the transport ship until it's ready to take them back to the Brave. He does not need to see more of this place.

"I'm alright, Master," Cal says. He tries to smile. It's a pale mockery. "We come to serve."

I'm thinking of baby Jedi today.

A Jedi Knight is finally allowed to become a parent a master and they pick up this bright eyed little eleven year old baby jedi. And on their first mission off Coruscant, the Jedi Master insists that their baby holds their hands while crossing the street.

The baby Padawan getting overwhelmed in a new situation and clinging to the back of their Master's robes.

The baby Padawan getting spooked by something, and darting under their Master's cloak, and clinging to the back of their leg.

The baby Padawan getting overtired on their first diplomatic mission, and their Master has to pick them up. The Padawan falls asleep on their Master's shoulder, in their arms, and the Master has to continue the negotiations while trying not to sob at how adorable their baby is.

Jedi are space Catholics no I won’t elaborate

I mean uh. Not really, not all religions are boiled down to Catholicism, like I guess you could argue that the Jedi might have similar roots in imperialism as the Catholic Church does, but from a purely religious standpoint since you’re comparing practices, they’re Buddhists.

Lightsabers are merely swords that glow, and therefore cannot slice through things solely because they are hot. It actually requires the Jedi wielding it to use the Force to enhance their blade in communion with their kyber crystal after much training in the technique, and that, friends, is why Cal never ever slices a door open in Fallen Order.

bnhhnf not a hc but im just dumping it here bc i feel you'd have a good take on this i can't properly contextualise into words (but don't feel forced to reply im just rambling here)

but i REALLY hope merrical doesn't become a thing in survivor not because i personally dont like the ship/have contradicting hcs but because i feel like it'd take so much away from what the original game was about? itd change the entire tone away from the series and really make it stand out negatively.. like fo handled its character relationships REALLY well especially familial, and even though it is a star wars game with action and laser swords i feel like they really hammered in that the message of the game was about these individuals from various different backgrounds who have all had something horrible happen to them or been through a bad experience coming together to heal. to me, the game is about healing from your trauma and i loved that there was nothing romantic about it like i see so many media on that topic do (eg having chr1 be magically okay and happy bc chr2 kiss them etc) and i feel putting in romance after would just cheapen it???? jfo was REALLY good at balancing the different scenes, and they all blended into eachother in a way that made sense.. assuming survivor will be similar to fo, i cant imagine how they would fit a romance arc into it that isnt just a singular kiss and holding hands in cutscenes, aka never touched upon. also, theyd need to do like... entirely new coding and text dialogues for the optional conversations

i also really hope it doesn't happen because it would follow the ever tiring trope of "a guy and a girl of similar age now exist in the same space, obviously there's some tension😏 because guys and girls can't JUST be friends😏😏" and as someone on the aroace spectrum it's so UGH to me because for starters it's so??? corny?? its the most boring way to start a romance ..

anyway BSHDJFJS i am so sorry for the rant i just am a lil salty about the entire concept... might just be me but i love medias with no romance at all that solely focuses on found family and i want jfo + js to continue that🤷‍♂️

Yeah, as an asexual person, one of the things I always liked about the Jedi Order is how they are (in the films at least, EXCEPT YOU ANAKIN AND LOOK HOW THAT TURNED OUT) portrayed as not having romantic attachments which is why I loved it, even as a child. I felt like finally I had some good representation... It's why I only really accept the first 6 films and JFO as canon (lol sorry to all animation / sequel fans. I CAN PICK AND CHOOSE WHAT I LIKE!!!!!) (okay fine, I don't mind parts of The Mandalorian either...) I would *love* it if they keep Cal and Merrin as just friends with more of a sibling vibe, but *if* they don't, well, that's what headcanons are for. However, that said, given how well-written the first game is, I have hope that it would be handled gracefully.

It would be so nice to have another story without romance of any kind!! Breakfast Tea Inc is ALL FOUND FAMILY, ALL THE TIME.
