i think i posted about this multiple times but there is no way i am going searching for old shit on here i have things to do (adhd) so i'll sum up.

my first exposure to yuffie was the remake because i had never engaged with any final fantasy stuff before, and i only did then because on some video or something there was a clip of the new game and i see this sexy-ass motherfucker with white hair waving a sword around and wearing a leather coat with a bondage harness and i was like: "EVERYONE SHUT UP. who is that?" and then my partner was like "i wasn't talking and that's sephiroth"

and then i wound up playing it on PC anyway. what the hell was i talking about?

OH YUFFIE. yeah she sucks. her personality is a type of bratty imp trope that really rubs me the wrong way if it's not executed very well, which it is not. visually, she's designed in a way that pushes both extreme childlike youth and unconscious adult sexuality in our faces, which i personally no shade find to be gross.

like they give her a face like a haunted doll, a personality like a caffienated 9 year old, use the anemic gradeschool boy body type, oh but also she's rocking a crop top sweater IN FUCKING SPINACH GREEN for god knows what reason a pair of d-cups and her pants are always undone. and her costumes in ever crisis are progressively worse. like i don't mind blatantly sexualized characters but i do mind tasteless and outright ugly design.

i get that she's some pervert's jerkoff material which who cares but i can tell that we the player are clearly supposed to find her sooooo cuuuuute and funnnnnny yack. she's obnoxious and i dislike her.

ON TO JESSIE

i also wrote multiple posts about this bitch but i'll sum it up too. jessie is another japanese girl character trope that i dislike immensely. she's has a loud tomboy personality, only hangs with guys, and does pick-me coolgirl things, and also she's not competent or in control of any situation, has to be rescued by the male protag, and does cutesy little tee-hee shit to remind you she's sexually available.

like constantly. in fact her sexuality is basically her whole personality. she literally exists in the game to have weird metal tits and flirt with cloud. only it's not flirting it's sexual harassment and it is egregious.

i have no support on this because westerners are just as bad when it comes to this, but i will say it again: BEING SEXUALLY AGGRESSIVE AFTER BEING TOLD NO MULTIPLE TIMES IS NOT CUTE JUST BECAUSE IT'S A GIRL DOING IT. UNWANTED SEXUAL LANGUAGE AND CONTACT ARE NOT CUTE BECAUSE IT'S A GIRL DOING IT.

her interactions with cloud made me so personally uncomfortable and upset i almost stopped playing the game. like he's rejecting, saying no, putting up barriers, displaying clear body language that says stay away, and she just keeps pushing, violating his boundaries, making sexual comments, groping him on the motorcycle, and touching and kissing him against his verbally stated and physically signalled wishes.

but the game signals clearly via its framing of the incidents and the other characters reactions that we are supposed to think that this is just adorable and that cloud is the weird one for not liking it because what guy wouldn't like it when a girl basically attacks him sexually what are you gay?

i hate it. i hate sexual harassment and i hate how miserable cloud clearly is in those scenes and how horrible and persistent jessie is and how fun and great everyone else seems to think she is. also her weird and unnecessary metal titty armor is just unpleasant to look at.

whew. i feel out of breath even though i'm not talking and typed all of this. i really hope i answered your question and that i made some kind of sense in there cause i am not gonna go back and proofread that would take minutes of my life. MINUTES.
