I am barely holding up today... I've had a really hard summer and this difficult chapter is coming to an end but boooooy is it hard right now! I'm repeating to myself that I have to hold but the truth is, I'm not the one that needs to hold on, it's my job which needs it. The moment when I'll let go doesn't really change anything for me, but it does make a hufe difference for my coworkers. So I'm trying to holdon for their sake, out of generosity, but everyday, that generosoty is eroding... My boss is asking for a little more but I can't. As of now, I don't even know if I'll last until the set date of my departure.

So at work I work the registers so I get people asking me alot whats my tattoo mean then I tell them oh its Overwatch and they obviously dont know what Overwatch is sooooo then I gotta explain the whole game.....

So I’ve spent two years with my head down, completing an Information Science MSc (viva on Friday!) and I haven’t moved house since March... I think it’s about time to move counties, sectors and start a NEW JOB!

Helloooooo world 👩🏼‍💻 Now you might be asking, what could possibly be so exciting about me sitting in my room with my work laptop like I do for 40ish hours a week? Well my friends, today marks my 6 month work-iversary at @trov! Why does that matter, you might ask? Well, it matters because for the longest time I had SO much anxiety about work, especially remote work, especially being multiple not-default identities in tech, and super-especially because my last job laid me off one day before my 6 month mark with zero notice. That caused me to struggle for 7-8 months while living off unemployment and to move across the entire country to SF in search of work. I spent easily 60+ hours per week on coding challenges, interviews, Udemy courses and @outcosf classes before I finally, miraculously found my current role. I’m relieved and honored to say that I couldn’t be happier with how this role has turned out for me. I’ve learned SO much about react, redux, remote work, team dynamics, work autonomy, how to advocate for D&I and more since I looked for and started this job, and I can’t wait to see where it takes me next. I just started on a new team a week or so ago and it’s going really well so far. I have far less anxiety now that I know that we really are like one big family at my work, despite being located all around the world, and that I actually matter and am appreciated here, just as I appreciate my coworkers, and that communication and psychological safety are very much a thing here. It’s a cruel world out there in tech sometimes, but I now have much more hope for the future than I’ve ever had career-wise. Thank you to anyone who has helped me on my journey, whether you are a former coworker, current coworker or friend I met along the way.
