Getting a cane soon, and very excited for that. I have weak knees and overall can't walk a lot, so I'm very excited for this, to actually be able to move easier and more, and this will also help me loose weight as well. I'm also hopefully getting knee and wrist braces (my wrists are also rather weak, weak bones and so forth are very common in my mom's side of the family, my mom had to be operated on her wrists a lot actually.) I can't wait to be free.

I finally own a back brace, wrist braces, & an ankle brace. (I need to buy another, but I went with cheapest & simplest because being disabled is expensive. Trying to accommodate hEDS while also in uni isn’t fun (/intentional understatement).)

After getting home & taking my chest binder* off, & actually processing the joint pain of the day (sensory processing delays + chronic pain normalization), I realized I can put the bracers on & got excited.

it’s wild to realize that the process of unlearning the brand of ableism I was taught* is working, and for the first time, I’m excited to accommodate myself.

It’s been almost 4 years (April 2021) since I started the process of unlearning/learning how to self-accommodate, but the progress shows today (/relieved, hopeful).

(*⚠️ ableism trigger warning for this part (between the triangle + ! sign emojis: ‘disability aids are scarce, how dare you pretend to need them, you’re not disabled, don’t steal them from actually disabled people 😡’ (/synthesized across many arguments) ⚠️- false scarcity mindset, and also just... wtf 😭)

My joints have gotten to the point where its no longer uncomfortable to use them its now extremely painful and they keep poppin outta place.
