All Calvin Van Pelt wanted was to have a cartoon strip in a local newspaper. For his senior year, he volunteered at a local rescue shelter. He enjoyed the experience so much, he returned to volunteer in the summer many times. Eventually, Calvin was a regular volunteer. Just before he started his first semester as a journalism major, the rescue shelter asked if he wanted to start going out in the field rescuing the animals. Calvin leapt onto the oppurtunity, and they quickly sent him out of town on his first job. The recent earthquakes in the neighbourhood had left a lot of wood and metal dangerously splayed out. The feral cats that wandered in from the surrounding woods could get hurt. Out Calvin went, and he never started that semester. The authorities declared Calvin Van Pelt missing. And he was. The feral cats attacked Calvin right out of the woods. He was scarred and scratched just about all over, but the real damage was done to his hands. No fingerprints, even a shred of a palm print remained. Those hands he wanted to create so much with, destroyed at the hands of these cats. His dream of cartooning shattered, Calvin would use these hands to destroy. He fashioned himself an eerie mask, and a crude suit made of an orange tracksuit with magic marker stripes, and a massive orange electrical cable he stumbled across. He shoved bits of shrapnel and metal into his overgrown, cracked nails, making himself awful claws. Calvin died that night. Gorfeild was born. On Mondays, Gorefeild breaks into households with the help of his army of feral cats. Using his orange cable, he will tie up his victim and demand to be fed lasagna, but he settles for most comfort foods. Before he offs his victims, he often recites terrible Garfield jokes.
