Jo Nesbø: Mere Blod (eng: More Blood)
Publishing date: October 2015
Main character/s: Jon Hansen, Lea, Knut- her son,
Storyline: Jon runs away from the Fisherman, he gets to a small place up the far North from Oslo. He befriends a boy named Knut and falls in love with his mother Lea. Jon knows he is not safe but he feels good in the solitude of that place... but it does not last long. Fisherman’s men track him and try to kill him.
Upsides: Jon is a crude and simple trigger-man (tho not by choice) but likeable.... the place brings some pieace to the mind and who doesn’t like a nice crime story once in a while. Plus it’s the squel so it’s a rather short book- ideal for a weekend read-on.
Downsides: Some descriptions were gore and brutal... but what one can expect from such a title. Also I am angry that Lea did not ‘escape’ her husband sooner cuz she deserved better. The sexualization of women and stupidity of religious beliefs infuriates me ... but I get the point of such plot in the story, still... I am vexed.
Imho Camille Lackberg’s stories are better... tho it’s only my second Jo Nesbø’s book... and I have read at lest 3 thick novels by Lackberg and one shortstory, and still her style is more suitable for my preferences. But Every once in a while a change is needed so I do not regret reading this book.
