i love jason todd

but like, not in the way most people do i think

i like him because he was just a kid who went through so much really shitty hardship and tried to do the right thing and then fucking died anyway

then got brought back to life as a dramatic little shit (rightfully so) and released his very muchly so immature but also so mature rage upon the world and also still wanted to do the right thing and make it better

and then, you know

DC hates him so after his one good run (cough literally under the red hood cough) they kinda just shit on everything he is and was over and over without letting him keep any permanent growth as a character. getting progressively worse as time and reboots have gone on. (cough cough literally the most recent and canceled run with him and huntress thank fuck theres only one issue cough cough cough)

i love him because i loved his comics as robin from the 80s

because i loved reading a death in the family

because he’s beautifully tragic and then still doesn’t get to work out

it’s poetic and also sad but i love him

does that make sense?

something about ichiya clearly knowing where to hit by calling matakara weak for relying on others and how it parallels the exact way arajin looks like in his eyes: self-sustained, independent, dealing with his problems and difficult situations without asking anyone for help (pre-senya reveal ofc) when matakara is unable to stay strong and brave if he's not desperately clutching onto belief there's always someone out there on his side :(
