The problem with trying to find out about the former is that basically anything that doesn’t have “for women/joseimuke” slapped on it, is “for everyone”. There’s no real “for guys/danseimuke” breakdown of app games. We could look at things like Blue Archive and Nikke but they’re categorised simply as “RPG” rather than by target audience, which is a treatment only girls games get because they make up such a small fraction of all games that exist. And because it’s a small fraction, any revenues will always be dwarfed by the majority. 

If we want to compare against the past, I’d hazard a guess that the female-targeted games market should be increasing in value, as is with the overall games market.

I’m not sure about what you mean by “doesn’t look too good overall”? 

Keeping in mind I’m talking purely about the Japanese market, here I’ve compared the revenues for RPG (mixed demographics, but largely male targeted) and female-targeted games and the only major difference is the numbers being magnitudes different which is expected because of audience size. August 2023 saw a massive spike in FGO revenue due to the game’s anniversary and summer events contributing to the peak but that’s an outlier. Otherwise, they both seem to follow a pretty similar trend.

Twisted Wonderland (Twst) and Ensemble Stars (Enstars) are the other two titles constantly vying for top 3 in the “female-targeted” tag so if those two aren’t doing good then I’m afraid there’s no future for the entire genre lol. Though from quickly eyeballing the numbers, Enstars (music) definitely has an edge over Twst, coming out in first place most months. I can’t say how well they’re doing internally however, since I don’t know how much of the revenue is actually profit.

It's a country in the Aquilegia Empire where there are a lot of blooming flowers. Because I was surrounded with plants since I can remember, I also turned out to like plants too. We've been recovering bit by bit from the "Red Moon Calamity" we suffered 5 years ago.
