[Fate and Entropy] Tell me more about this one!
*tries to scramble to see if I still have my notes for this one*
*brushes dust off my shirt* Sorry this might be disjointed and rambly.
This one’s a couple years old now and it’s been sitting on the shelf for most of that time but I’m just... very attached to this and am reluctant to say I’m shelving this permanently. I don’t hang out with the folks I did while I was planning this all out but it’s... very emblematic of a time where I was starting trying to find a good place to be and people to be with and recover after I got away from my ex-boyfriend.
To be honest there’s still a lot of in between gaps that need to be filled out, but all the major plot points are there. My major additions, revisions, and expansions of the canon narrative are there. It’s just a matter of getting into the finer chapter by chapter stuff and actually writing it out.
But basically it starts with 25 year old me (because I was 25 when I started writing it) with a slightly altered backstory but otherwise just. Me. As is. no frills. And getting sucked into the world of FFXV several months before the start of the game (so she’s 35 by the end of the story after the 10 year timeskip happens, although that period of time is explored in more detail in this fic or that was the plan). Although unlike other fanfics with this trope commonly do, I decided it was basically a cosmic freak accident. But the process of going between dimensions messes with Joey’s memory and she has amnesia in regards to FFXV for the first act of the story- she doesn’t remember that Eos or the people she meets are all part of a video game she played, yet she can’t shake the feeling it all seems familiar. And through a series of events, she befriends Noctis and co and becomes part of the group to escort Noctis to Altissia. And learning of the attack on Insomnia and learning that someone she befriended when she arrived and grew very close to (Nyx Ulric) died it triggered all those memories to come flooding back and she decided she wasn’t going to just let everything happen the same way and let folks die.
But the Astrals get wind of this and basically put a magical gag order on her. She is allowed to try to take actions to change things as long as it doesn’t interfere with their prophecy about the Chosen King AND she doesn’t tell anyone she knows what’s going to happen. So she basically goes around like “fuck I know what’s going to happen but I can’t SAY anything”.
Now, she saves Lunafreya in Altissia and some other folks, but one of Joey’s big arcs if figuring out how to convince Astrals to let Noctis live/find a way to fulfill the prophecy without his permanent death. And I did have a plan for that and remember the general gist of it, but again it’s a matter of trying to recall the little details.
I also remember that Joey’s mere presence does change some things in a big way- I had a scene plan where Regis notices the painting of the Prophecy is different and includes someone it didn’t before (and only he and maybe other members of the the Lucis royal line would be able to recognize the painting wasn’t always like that - so basically Regis, Ardyn, and Noctis). Basically either reality trying to accommodate to weave Joey into its fabric or the astrals essentially trying to minimize her impact by retroactively writing her into the prophecy or something like that.
It’s not all serious though, I had some lighthearted stuff planned for the story too. Just... man I wish I could get hyperfixated with FFXV again so maybe I’d have some more motivation to start working on it again.
