I can't speak for any of you, but it's been a stressful week around here and it's only half over, and January seems to be going on forever. So I thought it would be a good day to share a silly book about a dog who ... well, seems to "go on forever". Julia Patton's "The Very Very Very Long Dog" (2017) is one of my favourite sorts of story: no deep message or heavy moral, just a wonderfully silly, lighthearted tale of an extra-long dachshund named Bartleby, whose tail end trails so far behind the rest of him that it seems to cause its own adventures. I absolutely LOVE the illustrations in this one. They're sort of scribbly and playful and so very child-friendly, and really add to the humour.
