Reading a Roald Dahl story book without Quentin Blake illustrations sprouting from your head is a ridiculous notion and does not exist in the real world. Besides, there is no way to unsee or forget them because the noses he draws follow you wherever you go.
Blake's drawings scream with chaotic, colourful and good energy from childhood. God knows we can do with more of them.

November 7, 2019 G is for ... Goosebumps #ampersandnov19 I had a hard time thinking of something for this letter. I almost went for Game of Thrones. • Did you read Goosebumps as a child? What about watching the old movies? I remember watching A Night in Terror Tower when I was little. • There are so many movies that I watched when I was little that I’d love a channel to play them all on a loop. Don’t Look Under the Bed, Halloweentown, Hocus Pocus, Homeward Bound, The Witches, Hook, The Pagemaster, Jumanji, Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island. Seriously, the list can go on and on. Can you tell I’m a 90s kid? 🎞 I know I asked several questions already BUT do you have a favorite 90s movie? 📼 #cozyascanbe - tea or coffee - coffee - the only flavor of tea that I’ve tried recently and liked is Iced Peach Tea. I’m not a tea drinker even though everyone in my family is. They think I’m crazy. ☕️ #goosebumps #coffee #childrenslit #middlegradelit #flatlay #books #tbr #wanttoread #lovetoread #bookstagram #bibliophile #bookworm #bookish #bookaholic #bookaddict #booklover #bookish #bookphotography https://www.instagram.com/p/B4kSSGrAZ-e/?igshid=14mq4b1fa207a

I could not decide what to post about this week. This book is just a whirlwind of adventure and has many valuable lessons hidden within. I chose these two gifs because the first one, to me, shows that Bilbo is the leader of the dwarfs and everyone of them love and trust him with their lives. This just shows how far Bilbo has come from the beginning of the book and how changed he is as a person. He isn’t just a little scared hobbit who keeps to himself and hates adventure. The second gif shows the bravery and intensive talk between Bilbo and Smaug. This gif just showed me the bravery and how far along Bilbo has come from the very beginning. Bilbo is now a hero and very much trusted in the dwarfs’ eyes because he will do anything to save them. The dwarves can not be left alone to do anything, they will always need a leader and someone to tell them what to do next. Bilbo became this person and they all looked up to him, whereas in the beginning the dwarves thought it was a chore to look after Bilbo because he was always the caboose of the group. I could not seem to get interested in this book, no matter how hard I tried. I constantly found myself making myself read because I never felt the want to do so. I don’t know why, but this book was not my cup of tea. By watching the many movies that were based on this book, I wouldn’t recommend it to children. If the child has never seen the movies and would like to read this book with an open mind, then this novel may be a good fit because you can imagine the characters however you see fit. I think many children can benefit from the valuable lessons learned throughout this book. Although it’s a tough read at first (chapters 1-10), the book can teach children to stand up for what’s right, fight for what’s fair, and be brave and courageous. @alijulia87
June 5th, 2019 || and the hay fever is back.... with a vengeance 🤧🤧 anyways, the best way for me to combat back is to stay indoors unfortunately... although I’m having a lot of time to read. . Today I wanted to talk about Wildspark by Vashti Hardy. Picked it up on a whim a few weeks ago because middle-grade is always a good genre to get out of a reading slump and it was clearly a good decision. This book is set in the magical city of Medlock where a guild of inventors have developed a way to capture spirits of the dead in animal-like machines and that alone was enough to spark (no pun intended 😂) my interest. We follow Prue Haywood as she joins the secret guild to try and learn as much as she can so she can bring her brother back. . This story was unputdownable. It does have elements that would remind readers of other middle-grade books (for example Harry Potter and His Dark Materials) but as a whole it is such a fantastic adventure with great twists along the way. It’s a story about friendship, family and loss and it deals with “heavy” topics such as life and death in a great way, considering this is for children. . And the characters are just marvellous. I loved reading this adventure through Prue’s eyes. She’s brave and curious and feels very real. Her friends, Edwin and Agapantha, are also adorable and the three of them make a great trio. . This is a great book for any child but one adults can also enjoy. So if you like the sound of it, give it a try. I know Vashti Hardy has another book out and I’m planning on reading it very soon 💕. . Do you read children’s books? Any recommendations? • • • • #childrenslit #wildspark #vashtihardy #childrenbookart #readeverywhere #fortheloveofreading #booksandcoffee #unitedbookstagram #adayinbooklandreviews #bookstagramit https://www.instagram.com/p/ByUyWuBoZkv/?igshid=534m4xdpzfgh
