June 8 has been announced as Oceans day. I believe the oceans have a huge role in the cycle of life. Come to think of it, our planet Earth wouldn't have been named the BLUE PLANET had there been no oceans. It is one of the reasons why mankind still prevails. Sure, mankind is taking quantum leaps to harness new sources of energy for the sustenance of its race. But, it seems as if man has forgotten the value of the gifts mother nature has blessed him with. Our actions have left the environment in a very fragile state. And the effect is felt most in the large water bodies that envelope 3/4th of our planet. From dangerously high water levels, oil spills polluting the water , endangered species of fish to water scarcity, our oceans are taking a toll and affecting biodiversity just the same. The world organisation may have announced today as the day for oceans, but that doesn't mean our efforts to preserve the blue of the planet restrict to just one day. Instead, it should be the daily efforts of every individual in every corner of the world to save the oceans, everyday! Preserved oceans means preserved biodiversity, implying healthy cycle of life.

So let us come together today and pledge to save the blue and keep the cycle of life going.
