Feeling joyus and giddy that my first campaign I've ever homebrewed and run myself is going so well.
We started playing a junior braves game TWO YEARS AGO, planning to have it in case we can't do the og dnd campaign any given week. It took two years for us to pull it back out again. First session back, I was convinced I'd beefed it for everyone. I was convinced I'd ruined the whole premise and made the game horribly dull. After input from the players and rereading the manual (i missed a Lot two years ago that I can use now), I realized I didn't beef it, I actually played it swimmingly. The players are invested in the mystery, in the unknown of it all. We start sessions with the theorizing, and I can get an idea of what they need to learn and what they know. They make truths happen that I never would've expected.
And last night, despite my lack of coherent thought, I got to leave them on a cliffhanger. A cliffhanger full of information about their apocalypse and situation, as well as a cliffhanger for a bad situation. Everyone at the table screamed, and they were so excited. They wanna forgo playing our usual dnd game next week so they can get to resolving it. I feel on top of the world, and we all made it happen. Homebrew is magical.
