You ever just look at a really cool pot or vase or teacup and think “this, this is really funky”? That’s the spirit of John Keats taking over
Studyblr Introduction 🌻
Hey, my name is Phoebe and I totally didn't steal this template (thanks @literachures!). I don’t think I've ever posted an intro post and even if I did it'd be so out of date.
About me: - I’m Phoebe - I recently turned 24 and I’m in the UK - I cry a lot, even at Disney movies - I’m pescatarian but I’m hoping to go back to being a vegan soon
Academics:
- In October, I'll be starting a PhD researching the changing cultural reception and reception of John Keats. I get to work at Keats House as part of it and I'm so hyped. I'm very excited to say that it's fully funded! - I did my MA in Eighteenth-Century Literature and Romantacism at Queen Mary. Before I started, I really hated romantacism and now I'm doing a PhD sort of in it. - For my BA, I did English Literature at the University of Portsmouth and I absolutely adored it. I'm still in contact with some of my lecturers and they've been a massive support in my academic journey without my dissertation supervisor and one of my favourite lecturers I wouldn't have got this far. Recently, the university made a incredibly stupid decision based on incorrect information to make half of the staff redundant. I'm absolutely heartbroken for them as I adore everyone there and it's a devastating blow for literary studies at Portsmouth. I'll stop ranting now... - I actually almost failed my English Literature A-Level! I got an E at AS (including a U in my exam!). - I want to work either at a university or museum when I finish my PhD - My research interests: archival practices, afterlives, biographies, memoralisation (especially by friends!), feminisim, cultural reception - I started studying BSL last year but had to quit because work got in the way. I'm hoping I can restart
Likes/Interests: - theatre (I volunteer as a steward at the Globe!) - tea - visiting museums and cemeteries - experimenting with cooking - long walks - knitting
About this blog: - whenever I'm posting anything aesthic it's 95% driven by procrastination. I'm incredibly intimidated by everyone whose posts are always beautiful - I'm a really slow reader, especially when I'm not that interested in something - I post a lot in order to have some kind of accountability, it'll be a lot better when I'm no longer shielding and able to go to cofffee shops and libraries (remember those pre-pandemic days?) - I already feel imposter syndrome so badly and I have no clue why I'm here
Other things: - feel free to message me (esp. if you’re a gradblr/phdblr!) or if you stan Keats/Romantic authors
Blogs that inspire me: @brewstudies, @spoonie-studyblr, @earlymodernstudent, @problematicprocrastinator
Please reblog/like if you’re a studyblr and let’s be friends (and cry over academia)!!!!!
I feel confident I should have been a rebel angel had the opportunity been mine.
- John Keats to Benjamin Robert Haydon 11 May 1817. Keats had just received bad news about his always-precarious financial situation, and he reflects on how that financial insecurity was a constant hindrance to his creative process both to his motivation and to the content he would have liked to explore.
theres only ONE MAN and his name is john keats and hes going to beat you THE FUCK UPPP
