What are your trans boy hcs for Ben?
Ben doesn’t actually remember coming out, he told his parents he was a boy when he was really young and they took him seriously.
But not everyone in his family did, and they weren’t allowed around him because of it. Most of his aunts and uncles took a few years to come around because of how young he was, and his grandparents didn’t accept him until after he got back.
And while Ben wants a relationship with his grandparents, there’s resentment on his end, because it took him being dead for them to accept him.
He started puberty blockers when he was ten, and would get injections every three months until he was thirteen, then he got a two-year implant in his right arm.
Cian was the first person Ben came out to. It was the day he got back to the group because he had been trying to get them to come out themselves, they had come out to him after the cattle drive, and it hadn’t gone well because they weren’t ready.
He came out to the rest of the group during month four of being stuck on Nublar while everyone was doing a moral booster that Sammy had suggested. They went around the circle and said what they were grateful for being able to do before going to camp, and Ben said he was grateful for the fact he was able to get a new implant before camp and that it was working.
And after he explained, a lot of stuff he would say made a lot more sense, like when they were sorting through supplies and he took some pads because “sometimes those things can sneak up on you,” or when the others teased Kenji about his facial hair and and he pointed out Ben might grow it too, and Ben agrees but says it won’t be until he’s sixteen.
And he did go on testosterone at sixteen. He started with injections and then started using topical gels.
Because he was on puberty blockers before he started puberty and went straight to hrt, he’s never had to consider top surgery, but bottom surgery is something he’s on the fence about. His dysphoria comes and goes, so it’s not an immediate issue for him.
Although by the end of Chaos Theory, it’s not really an option given he’s still in recovery. He might look into it again once he heals, but for now he’s comfortable enough as he is.
