If you have a problem with Jews using the word "diaspora," you're the one who needs to go and find a new word, because you're using a Jewish one.
The word "diaspora" was originally coined for the Jewish Diaspora. It has other meanings only by extension.
[id: tweet from maimonides_nutz : If you think about it….Roughly translated, Pirkei Avot can mean “Daddy Issues”]
I don't think I can really express to the non-Jews reading this how totally exhausting being Jewish on the internet is.
Being Jewish on-line is to every day see posts, often times with thousands of notes, likes, retweets, and floods of supportive comments, that range from mild misinformation to the all to common Neo-nazi conspiracy theories and blood libels.
Being Jewish online is not having anywhere near the energy to respond to this endless stream of hate.
Being Jewish online is being scared that if you comment on a tweet, or make a post calling someone out on their racism you'll find yourself flooded with hate, or even end up doxxed with your home address posted on a Nazi webpage (which happens a lot on Jewish twitter btw).
Being Jewish online means when you finally work up the nerve and the energy to post something about the shit you see and hear every day, it gets all of 34 notes.
Because being Jewish online means no one who's not Jewish seems to give a shit about your pain.
