Uhhh so I know I normally post art but I wrote a short fanfic about Kai’s true potential scene andddddddd well here it is. 😭 plz ignore any spelling errors I wrote it at 1 am
As Fire whips around them, licking up into his hair; Kai can feel himself lower down into the bounty. Lloyd’s cling to him arms, still shaking in fear. His arms themselves are shaking from exhaustion. It feels like being set on fire, like he can’t even look at his own skin for how hot it felt like it was burning. Part of him told him it had to be burning Lloyd but he knew it wasn’t. And now he knew why.
When he lowered the two of them down and the ball of fire had dissipated, he dropped Lloyd down to the ground. The others were quick to surround them, but everything just seems to muffle his ears.
Kai turned around to where Sensei Wu stood at the deck. All he wanted was to see Wu’s face now that he’d finally done it. Finally reached his true potential. Kai didn’t even realize Garmadon stood right there.
When the two’s eyes met. Kai finally felt calm. All Wu did was nod. One small, silent, and proud gesture. And he fainted.

“Heh, you doing alright kiddo?” Garmadon asked, his voice strained with worry and relief. Lloyd sat criss crossed in his lap, fiddling with his hands. He knew he should be happy; and believe him, he was. But all he felt he could do was worry about Kai. Kai laid over on a couch sat in the bounty’s helm. He still hadn’t woken up or much moved. Lloyd kept glancing over at him.
“He’ll be okay; I promise. He’s just exhausted right now. Some rest will fix him right up.” Uncle Wu said. He kept telling Lloyd that but it didn’t much help the knot in his stomach.
“….you can go over to him.” Garmadon said.
“B-but your here, a-and I-“
“I can see you want to be with him. We have all the time in the world now that you’re safe and I’m here. We can talk another time. So go, be there with him. Just be careful not to wake him, alright?” Garmadon responded. Lloyd stood, still fiddling with his fingers. He took small steps, careful not to make a sound on the wooden floor boards. Lloyd sunk down to his knees and rested the side of his head on the couch, waiting for Kai to wake up.

It’s been a couple hours since Kai woke up. He hadn’t been able to get Lloyd off his side since he woke up, not that he really wanted to. However, he needed to speak to Wu. And…Kai doesn’t really think this is something Lloyd should be here for. Not right now.
He walked down to Sensei Wu’s room, his steps echoing along the halls. The bounty was small, but quiet and empty right now. When he got to his sensei’s door, Kai knocked with as much confidence as he could muster up.
It took a second but Wu soon opened the door, allowing Kai in.
“What it is that you need, my student?” He asked.
Kai looks at his own feet. To say it felt like finally admitting he’d lost. To admit it was all for nothing. He took a deep breath, trying to force the words out of his chest. “I know who it is. I know who the green ninja is.”
Wu’s eyes grew wide for a second before once again softening. “You do?”
“Yeah.” Kai said. “It…it’s him. It’s Lloyd, I know it is. I don’t know how to tell you but it is.”
Wu didn’t really say much. Maybe it was shock. Maybe he knew all along. “We’ll do the test.” Is all he said.
“No sensei, it’s him. It’s…him. I know it is.” Kai was shaking, his eyes having a hard time making out the floors wood grain they were so wet. “It’s him.”
He only stopped when he felt a pressure from his front. Sensei Wu had stepped in front of him and held him in a hug. He’s lost. And part of him was happy. He knew he had a bigger job now. To keep that kid safe; at any cost. He felt like he finally knew deep in his soul what he was suppost to do. No flashy lights or bright green gi. But a child; and a duty to protect that kid for everything he’d got ahead of him.
“I’m proud of you.”
That’s all Wu said. And like that, it was all better again. Like he could breathe for the first time in weeks. Like he knew what it was like to be and know why you stand on two legs and to know why you fight and who you’re fighting for. To protect that kid. To protect the green ninja. To protect Lloyd.
I'm really tired of people saying Kai would pick the fangblade over Lloyd even for aus because it just never makes sense ta me like Kai would NEVER have actually picked that blade over a kid who's trapped in lava without help
It doesn't matter if any of the others could have saved Lloyd (and they couldn't) Kai wouldn't have just grabbed the blade and leave Lloyd there in the lava no matter how much he "disliked" the kid
Hell Kai even if he had the time ta get the blade and Lloyd he'd still save Lloyd first and THEN the blade never the other way around because Lloyd is a CHILD
my 11 yo cousin was complaining about people hcing characters as gay and i was like ???!?!?!!!!?!!!?!! i scrolled through the lava tag on tumblr and she went “well thats okay” GIRL WHAT DO YOU MEAN
so yeah ig they’re the only characters allowed to be gay
After going skating for my birthday, I will never ever laugh at Kai in that tournament of elements episode. Because falling while skating hurts like hell. I feel so bad for the boi constantly slamming into stuff. He was probably bruised to hell and back after that.
