I was rewatching old episodes of America’s Next Top Model and came across this beauty: Kari Schmidt (season 6). To me she gives Brigitte Bardot mixed with Doutzen Kroes. So cute! She didn’t make it very far in the competition unfortunately :/
#2 – Kari’s Swarovski Shot
Why was Kari eliminated so early when she produced beautiful shots like this. Her head is stunning here, she is rocking the bald head. Her lips are unique and different, and I love how beautiful her eyes appear in contrast with the pink gems. Kari’s head is unique, and this makes the crystals look absolutely stunning, and expensive.

It feels like Kari’s shot was almost there, but small details dragged it considerably down. For example, you can tell from the picture that she was going for a dreamy and soft facial expression, but it seems like she lost her composure while falling, which made her look rather dazed. And even if they look really good, I find her legs to be incredibly stiff, which is only emphasized by their perfect horizontality. I still appreciate the delicacy of her hands though, and it definitely wasn’t an elimination worthy photo.

This is were the shots actually start being good. I honestly think this photo of Kari would make a really convincing magazine cover. Her face especially just sells the picture. I love the subtle seductive look down combined with the raised chin, and with the softly parted lips, it gives her a certain air of confidence. I also think that the hair styling compliment her features very well, but unfortunately the body is kind of a let down, it’s too straight up and down for me. Just doing something with the hidden hand could have helped a lot, but here something is still lacking to elevate this shot to higher levels.
07. Kari
Kari went for the same approach as Kathy but executed it better. She didn’t drop her head too far back, so we can actually appreciate her facial features at a good angle. Speaking of her face, I think that it’s its uniqueness that sell the picture to me. It has a doll like quality which is quite captivating, from her big blue eyes to her gorgeously shaped lips. She only placed 7 because I feel like she’s relying a bit on this unconventionnal look in order to get the picture, and the positionning of the shoulders feels quite flat to me.

My call-out average: 7.67
Panel call-out average: 6.67
I was mildly shocked that Kari was eliminated when she was, but looking back I’m not sure that she could’ve lasted too much longer. Kari didn’t really have an appearance that stood out to me in person. Her first couple of photos were pretty good, but she bombed in her last shoot. That combined with her being the worst runway walker of the cycle in a runway-emphasized week was her downfall, even though I would’ve taken her further on instead of Gina. As far as personality goes, we didn’t get to know Kari at all making it difficult to become attached.
10. Kari
This is a weak photo, but Kari should’ve stayed since her first two shots were pretty good and this wasn’t the worst of the week. However, I wasn’t too upset with her elimination since she had a bad walk and she didn’t register as a model in person to me. I’m distracted by how tiny her head looks compared to her limbs and torso; everything is out of proportion. Her expression is dazed and she doesn’t look like her usual pretty self.
