For Karra, for the Valentine's Flash Exchange on the HH Discord: Sam/Zatanna, soulmate AU.

tbh there were enough ship options I dug in Karra's list that I had a hard time picking both which one I wanted to draw for and what to draw for said ship. Fortunately then I remembered that Absolute Zatanna showed up rocking punk/goth vibes while rolling with the Suicide Squad and all was solved. 😌✨💚

As I said, this was meant to be a soulmate AU, but I don't know that I really got that across. In my defense, it was VERY important to concentrate on making sure the outfits served appropriately, haha. But the basic idea is a concept I saw once ages and ages ago that basically boiled down to: "whenever your soulmate loses something, you find it".

Why the webbing in the paws?

spotted hyenas in real life have slightly webbed paws! they like water and they're strong swimmers and can even hunt prey in water even though they're mostly associated with dry environments.

i got art of it because i've never seen it represented in gnoll or anthro hyena art.

The Master could’ve totally made a jab about Karra to Ace in tpotd. Like maybe he had other things on his mind at the time of those events and didn’t notice they were getting close, but he had to have noticed Ace’s distress after he killed her. Like that would’ve just been plain cruel to mention her. Like: “Oh and remember that time I murdered your little girlfriend??” I would’ve been so mad at him, but it might’ve been worth it for him to reference her.

Karra is one of my favourite side characters in Doctor Who because even though she’s only in one already absurd story (survival), there is so much going on with her.

First off she’s played by Lisa Bowerman who later became the actor for Bernice Summerfield, she’s a cheetah person but the effects budget wasn’t very good at the time so she just spends the whole story in a cheap fur suit, she has author confirmed homoerotic subtext with Ace but I swear to you their entire relationship just involves Karra trying to get Ace to go feral and kill with her, she is a member of the bury your gays trope, she looks like this:
