As far as first impressions go, Katsuyuki makes a colorful one. He starts off by offering you his Wednesday night slot. Known in the 2nd unit for being a pervert with a different girlfriend for every day of the week, he doesn't come across as the type you'd want to enter a relationship with. Prior to his relationship with you, he had never ONCE turned a woman down in his life. Of course, like all the other men in MPD, that is just the surface.

Katsuyuki's family is quite complicated. His mother is never really mentioned, other than everyone including their pet left his father. His father didn't spend too much time with him, rather focused on his career. Katsuyuki is often at the receiving end of the embroiling inner politics of the MPD as a result.

You find a place in his life fairly quickly. You soon find yourself as one of the few that have entered his apartment. You quickly find the childish sides of him. Living off eating out and only with instant ramen in his pantry, you quickly take over his kitchen when he gets sick. Behind his pervy persona, you learn exactly how committed he is to his work, and you join him on the search for the perp even going as far as to violate his suspension.

And it is he that realizes how important you are to him before you will admit it. When he rushes to your rescue after you are targeted, it only causes your heart to waver more, but you know his history, so you are reluctant to take him seriously. In time you see that this is a side effect of his personality. He's unable to come out and say things honestly unless drunk, and both you and his father find it quite endearing.

Katsuyuki, to his credit, is quick to drop his former take on relationships as soon as he realizes you are exactly what he needs. He's unabashed about your relationship around his father, telling his father he will not repeat the same mistakes his father made with their family, and he has made sure your body can't live without him, much to your chagrin. Who talks like that in front of their parents except him? And without shame?

There is no hesitation in him that you are the one he loves, and together the two of you learn different types of self confidence. Breaking away from the Cinderella trope, Katsuyuki doesn't always go out of his way to sweep you off your feet. He is able to make daily happinesses very special, and you are able to take comfort in a relationship without pretense.

Recommendation: With MPD's format, it's worth buying every part of the route because their epilogues add to the main plot and there isn't really a weak point in them that I would recommend skipping even if you are on a budget. My favorite sub for him is "First Taste of Love." The length and content are definitely work the price to see your favorite guy one month into the relationship.
