Ninjago Next-Gen (Prologue)
“We don’t have a choice!” The master of fire yelled. “Three elemental masters have already disappeared off the face of the earth. Some kind of action must be taken!” The master of earth pounded the table, an action he’d repeated so often that night, the others feared for it’s stability. “We can’t fight an enemy we know nothing about. We gather information first, then we launch an assault.” “Yeah, I for one would like to know where the gates are before we try storming them!” Lighting added from the table’s other end. “Everyone quiet!” The Master of Energy shouted. The other five obeyed, falling silent as he sat back in his chair, head in hand. He rubbed the growing creases in his forehead. “Zane,” the silver man tilted his head towards their leader. “I assume you’ve been calculating our chances either way.” “Of course.” “And?” The master of ice hesitated. “There is a twenty percent chance of survival if we attack now.” The master of water thudded her head onto the table. “I hate odds.” “And if we flee?” The leader pressed. “If we and the other elemental masters were to go into hiding, sever contact with one another and enter deep cover… there would be a sixty-three percent chance at survival.” The master of fire cursed under his breath. “That’s-“ “A higher odd than we’ve worked with before.” The earth master interjected. “We’ve had less and come out on top. We can do that now.” “We’d need a fallout.” Lightning mused. “A plan to fall back on in case of… if something goes wrong.” “You’re right.” Energy conceded. “Alright, let’s take a vote before this goes any farther. All those in favor of going underground?” Six hands shot into the air. “It’s decided then. Zane, send out a wire to the remaining masters, letting them know, the rest of you get started on that fallout.” They all raised and left to do their work. The master of energy watched them leave, still seated, until only he and the master of fire were left. Fire approached the head of the table and gently laid a hand on his friend’s shoulder. “You’ve done the best you can.” He said. “Have I?” Energy questioned. “I think we both know someone who might’ve done better. Who had done better.” “Until the day he didn’t.” Fire fiddled with the sword at his side. “Master kept so many secrets… until the day he was gone. I still don’t think we knew all of them. …At the very least, you ask us what we think. You vote. He never did that, no matter how great he may have been.” “Great minds think alike but fools rarely differ.” Energy intoned. “And now you talk like him so you have the whole package.” Fire deadpanned. Energy chuckled, finally looking at his friend. “When did you get so good at this?” “When you started needing it.” “Hey guys are we gonna need fake names, cause I’ve gotten pretty attached to- am I interrupting?” Fire rolled his eyes. “Yeah moter-mouth, we were about to profess our undying love.” Lightning smiled at them cheerfully. “Kay! Just keep it short cause we’re gonna need you in here soon. Also, does your wife know?” “Buzz off.” Energy laughed, though it soon dissolved into sobs. Both men were instantly at his side. “I don’t know what I’m gonna do without you guys.” Fire squeezed his knee. “The goal now is to survive, so that we can live another day.” “Yeah, it won’t be forever. We’ll live when we meet again. And we will meet again. Someday.” Lighting smiled weakly. “Yeah. It won’t be forever.”
“It won’t be forever.” It echoed in his mind over and over. It echoed as he watched his friends scatter to parts unknown. As he himself fled to a lighthouse deep in uncharted waters. It echoed as the years passed one by one by one. It echoed as he saw a ship with a dragon’s head peek over the horizon. And it echoed when his friends weren’t the ones who stepped off it.
so like the dnd/role play blogs are funny
but mostly reading them just makes me appreciate the DMs/GMs I've had more
like I'm sure you guys are having fun but it seems other people make crits reallllllly extreme and not at all standardized and that would drive me crazy
like i saw one that was about a person rolling to ring a bell and like destroying an inn counter with a nat 20 ....but like .... a 20 is supposed to be a perfect... how does perfectly tapping a bell end in property damage?
or even the ones where its like oh you nat 1ed your attack role so instead of stabbing the hell hound you pet it....its funny but it seems like an odd way for an attack to end even if you did completely fail at it.
also...do most people not confirm criticals? and/or allow saving throws against the effects of a nat 1?
i mean every group is different but i dont know if i could play knowing that weird things would happen on a critical fail. right now i know all the odds on the main types of failure and i can factor that into decision making but if i dont know what worst case scenario to an action is its hard to commit to taking action
Huh. I just thought of something. Does Cyana like... glow in the sunlight? Like, moreso than normal people? Because that is one of the moon's things, reflecting light, but at the same time, not all of her moon properties carry over into her physical form. Like, she's not big enough to affect the tides in that form.
The symbol for the gender neutral bathroom should just be a toilet.
