MCM Cosplay Plans!!!
MCM Expo is creeping up on us so thought I’d post our cosplay plans up here
Friday: Ken -Sirius Black and Yuri - Remus Lupin (Harry Potter)(School boy versions) (unless by some magic we magically finish our Jojo and Caesar cosplays (not bloody likely though))
Saturday: Ken -Sanosuke and Yuri Kenshin Himura (Rurouni Kenshin)
Sunday : Ken -Tadashi Hamada and Yuri Hiro Hamada (Big Hero 6)

Hey Yuri here, on my personal tumblr we got asked the following seemed only right got answered on cosplay accont...
‘Hi. I have a couple questions: 1. What has been your favorite cosplay for you and Ken to do? And 2. What advice would you give Cosplayers who are just starting who barely know what to do? ‘
1. Neither of us have a fav cosplay as we both like different cosplays for different reasons. For example Durarara and Ben 10 are some of our favs to make videos for. Gurren Lagann and Soul Eater are more sentimental to us. I love Kuroshitsuji for all of Ciel’s outfits.So really kinda changes with why we are cosplaying.
2. Stop thinking about it just do it!!
The main thing is just choose a character you love (dosen’t matter if you look nothing like them Cosplay is for FUN!) and just do it. Practical advice would be start within your skill limit if your going to make it yourself (Don’t start on a crazy hard cosplay if you know your skills arn’t there yet, you can work up to that) If you don’t know how to sew learn the basics first. Look at pictures/manga/screencaps of your character and break their costume down into smaller chunks and deal with it that way. Work out what you need, budget, fabric stuff like that and reference pictures, always reference pictures.
If sewing/making it yourself isn't something you can do customize something to make it look like your character or just buy it. Ken can not sew (My sewing machine scares him) but he still cosplays
.Its just finding a cosplay you want to do and then realistically making, acquiring buying it and just having fun as that character. All of us have to start some where, its the same as anything the more you do it the better your’ll be at it. But most important just have fun!
