THE 2016 UP YOUR GAME FITNESS CHALLENGE: WE'RE OFFICIALLY IN THE SHIT. So, my foot that I hurt during the December challenge is still acting a bitch. It seems that every time I try to go back into workouts involving impact, it starts to hurt all over again, to the point where I have to walk on it very gingerly. I'm tip-toeing around like a turn of the century pickpocket. Anyway. I still have to work out, and I have to work out hard. Since I put a bunch of jump rope moves into this challenge's benchmark wod, like a dope, I had to come up with a new plan for my first workout of this challenge. Rather than skip this one altogether, I modified it so that I could eliminate most or all of its jumping. Here's what I did, with changes noted in italics, and otherwise following the same Tabata format of the *for real* version of the wod: 1.) push-ups on kettlebells (really need to work on these, by the way; sets 2-4 were ATROCIOUS) 2.) weighted alternating curtsy lunges 3.) swings 4.) double C&Ps 5.) squat thrusts 6.) goblet squats 7.) double snatches 8.) side plank hold with top leg lifted Notes: I have 2 x 12kg bells, so for anything that involved two bells, that's what I used. I also used 1 x 12kg on the snatches, because I had planned to do double snatches, but by the time I got to that point in the workout, my body was saying "HELL NO," so I just went with reg snatches. I used my 16kg on the lunges, swings and goblet squats. Even with scaling this down to be jump-free, shit was hard. I'm going to go drink some green juice and have some hard boiled eggs, now. #DETOXLIFE
