Wanted to sketch some Kid! Arthur working with Uncle Lance learning how to be a mechanic <3
I want to talk about Arthur as a kid.
I know that when we image Arthur as a child, he’s usually seen as a brat who runs around doing what he wants and is all high and mighty and a big bully.
BUT
I want to try and just put a thought out there because maybe, when we keep in mind how good and kind Arthur can be, just translate that to when he was a kid and this is what I see:
Kid Arthur looking up to his father and wanting to be strong like him, so he takes on more than he can handle, he tries to be mature and bottles things up so he can be brave. When his maid is sick and coughs, he orders her to go to Gaius and take the afternoon off. Arthur readily accepts orders from his father, no matter how tough and struggles through them with a brave face.
Kid Arthur would walk in and see his father asleep in the chair and would carefully put a blanket over him. He would have a small group of play mates and would look at the weakest one and would train them, saying that if they don’t get strong soon they will get hurt and he doesn’t want to see them hurt.
Kid Arthur would get fruits and would hand them out in the lower town. He would try on his fathers big shoes and would try and eat as much food as his father eats. He wouldn’t leave his fathers side when he falls ill and would make sure the damp cloth would stay cool on his head and would try and not cry.
Arthur would train hard, (As he becomes Camelot’s greatest warrior) wanting to eventually use the ‘big swords’ and throws a fit when he is forced to only use wooden ones and would demand Uther to buy him a real dagger and his maids and servants would be beside themselves when he’d finally get one. Arthur would keep it sharp and clean. Arthur would cry when he’d ride out with his father because he’s scared of the woods and would want to sit with him but wanted to be brave and sit on his own pony. Exhibit A:
BIRDS CALL
Arthur: I used to be afraid of these woods. Gwen: I find that hard to believe. Arthur: My father would bring me here when I was a boy. It seemed every falling leaf was a bandit, every puff of wind was a ghost. You just get used to it in the end. Gwen:I don't think I'd ever get used to it. Kid Arthur would be upset when Morgana would be better at swordsmanship than he was. He’d throw a tantrum afterwards when Morgana would beat him because he felt weak.
Arthur would have lots of friends but would be confused and upset when they would ask favour after favour from him and he would have trust issues.
Arthur would be criticised by his father and would live in a strict and harsh upbringing where Arthur would try desperately to prove himself to his father. Arthur would ask about his mother but Uther would refuse to talk about her. Uther never spoke about her. No matter what he did, his father would still demand things and because of Arthur pushing himself so much to the point of breaking, Uther expected more and more from him as a result.
Eventually Arthur would see himself as a huge disappointment to his father and would carry that into his adulthood.
He tries to grow up too fast, thus not acting like a kid. At some point in his life he becomes intensley protective of those around him that he cares for.
He’d passionately take lessons on chivalry and would love the idea of what a King, Prince and knight would stand for and would try and be that man.
Merlin, the nursery-bot.
“…And the Dragonlord and his dragon live happy ever after. The end.”
-The most caring manservant/manny of Camelot is telling his young master, the golden princeling, an intriguing bedtime story.
A/N: Have suffered from some artist block lately so honestly I’m quite glad that at least I can manage to create something at the moment. Though this one has been in my hard-drive for a while. Anyways…I think Merlin would read baby Arthur some poetry as bedtime story btw, If this really happened. What do you think? *smirk*
Turns out Merlin cried because he thought Arthur made him pregnant.
They’re obviously a little younger, I thought around 5 or 6...
Kid Again 8)
The little boy made himself look so small that someone would have easily tripped over him if he weren’t hanging around by the base of a streetlamp. It looked like he just came back from school, by the looks of his Lego-themed backpack on his shoulders, but he didn’t look too happy at all.
His skinny legs were covered in scrapes and dirt, and his backpack was halfway unzipped, papers and books threatening to spill out. Tears ran down his red cheeks, and he sniffed and pulled off his glasses so he could wipe the salty water off the lenses.
“I-I hate going to school,” The boy muttered to himself, trying to clean the tears off the lenses, but all he succeeded in doing was getting them grimy with his dirt-covered turtleneck shirt.
I want the older Arthur back.
Lewis: Its been while since well- y’know.Arthur: Being young was nice n’ all, but yeah;;
Arthur: I took the last soda.
