A/n: This one's a sought of heavy chapter, so I would recommend you all to be cautious while you read this, and to stop at any point when you feel uncomfortable, your safety is everything to me.
Your body is weak as you slump against yourself, your chin digging into your chest as you groan as your fingers twitch, your ears twitching alongside them as you hear the subtle clicking and metal sound from around your wrists.
Your eyes flutter open as you try to straighten your back against the rough surface of the wall behind you, your lips parting as you let out a soft groan under your breath.
You are aware of how you can't feel your legs as you try to wiggle your toes, but when you can't feel anything you furrow your brows as your fingers twitch more as the shackles around your wrists bang against the wall behind you.
Hearing a sudden rhythmic tapping sound you feel your eye begin to twitch in slight agitation, your teeth grinding against one another as you try yet again to move your feet without success.
You let out a grunt as you whine quietly to yourself as your eyes finally adjust to your surroundings, you seem to be in a basement somewhere, your eyes straining as you look at the prison bars in front of you.
You let out a loud huff as you blow strands of hair out of your face before you narrow your eyes as you try to remember what happened, but even to the best of your ability you can't remember anything within the past 24 hours.
Your eyebrows furrow as you look around you in slight confusion. Where's Lenny? She's for sure the reason behind your current circumstances.
You groan as your eyes flutter shut in exhaustion as you shift while you take a deep breath before your ears twitch at the familiar sound of Lenny from somewhere in the room,
"Well, don't you look lively..."
Her voice is tinged with mockery, and you clench your jaw in slight annoyance as your eyes snap open as you glare at her before your eyes take in her outfit in confusion before you scoff as you roll your eyes as you speak sarcastically,
"What mocking me with your voice wasn't enough? Now you have to dress up as a literal therapist?"
You flex your fingers within your restraints again but slump down as you poke the inside of your cheek in annoyance as you glare at Lenny while she just playfully winks at you while humming to herself and swinging her legs over the edge of the table she sits upon, her fingers push the glasses up her nose as she tilts her head in thought as she glances at you.
You watch as she rubs her finger over her bottom lip as she furrows her brows and narrows her eyes in concentration, it makes you squirm uncomfortably in your spot as you look away awkwardly.
She finally decides to stand as she takes a couple of steps towards you, enough that she now rests her arms upon the built in metal bars.
She drums her fingers against the metal bars as she smirks at you before pushing up the glasses on her nose, it makes you nibble at your bottom lip in nerves as you try to remain calm as a forefront, when you are really losing your shit on the inside.
She wags her finger at you before chuckling as she glances at you, her eyes giving you a full once over as she licks her lips before speaking,
"You're a tricky one to figure out, I'll give you that, my dear, but I will crack your code."
You take a sharp breath in as you feel her move forward, her fingers gripping your head as she digs her nails into the sides of your head, it makes you wince as you try to escape from her hold without success as you feel yourself smothered by the familiar feeling of her power.
Guess you're going down memory lane today.
When you open your eyes, your breath is caught in the back of your throat as you feel as if your falling, then they close again as you drop hard onto the ground.
You wince as you sit up while rubbing the back of your head, you can feel the grass beneath your bare feet and it makes you want to itch at your feet as you stand.
You go pale, you would know this place from anywhere, your family backyard.
Then you hear his voice, it makes a pained and wistful smile spread on your lips as you turn your head to follow his voice, that's when you see him.
He's young, in his early thirties, meaning this was before he died, near the beginning of his marriage with mum, that notion is solidified as you watch him carry you on his back, he spreads his arms out wide, before making airplane noises with his mouth.
You smile softly as you watch as younger you giggles while clutching to his shirt, though you wouldn't realise it till now that he has bags under his eyes and he seems sickly, it makes you uncomfortable as you reach out to brush your fingertips against his cheek.
He doesn't react as he runs straight through you, you watch as he throws you up in the air, your laughter ringing in your ears as you're falling again, through another memory.
You land this time harshly on your carpeted flooring, you're in your room and you can hear arguing downstairs, you jolt as you hear the resounding slap then mum yelling.
It's so loud, so very loud, and you react as you usually do, an automatic reaction as you shuffle under your bed, you don't react much as you shuffle in next to younger you, she's whimpering and crying, and you wish you could do more than just sit there while she's suffering.
Both your heads snap up at the sound of your bedroom door slamming open, familiar footsteps coming towards your bed as you watch as younger you flinches from someone lifting up your bedsheets.
What greets you is your father's smiling face, he grins softly at you as he spreads his fingers out for you to grab, you follow after them as younger you takes his hand.
What you watch makes an ache grow in the pit of your stomach as you watch your father bring you towards his chest, his hands combing through your messy curls as he shushes you before swaying you both, his voice a whisper as he looks up and at you.
He seems to see you as he smiles one last time before speaking,
You let out a desperate cry as you fall again, you desperately claw at anything, to stop the next endless cycle of memories, but nothing works as you drop again.
This time you stand in between your mother and father.
Your father glares at your mother as he yells so much his face grows red, his finger pointing angrily at her as he speaks with emotion. You don't remember this fight.
"You've been drugging me!? What the fuck is actually wrong with you?"
You watch as your mother takes a deep breath before stepping towards your dad as she tries and fails to calm him down, you feel emotional as tears grow at the corners of your eyes.
"Honey, they weren't meant to be killing you, they were meant to heal you."
Your father narrows his eyes at her as he slaps her hands away, your mother straightens as she lets out a deep sigh before speaking in a mere mumble,
"What else was I supposed to do while you were slowly dying from your cancer?"
Your father shakes his head as tears grow in the corners of his eyes as he looks at your mother pained, as his voice comes out weak and nothing like the strong man you once knew,
"All I asked for you was to stay by my side and love me! You know, 'In sickness and in health', remember? Did our vows mean nothing to you!?"
You frown as you look at your mother, she's crying, but you don't feel sympathy for her, you feel it, feel it so deeply for your father that you're crying yourself as you hear her try to further explain herself,
"Yes, I took a gamble, we're in debt, my love, I did some risky things to be able to further my research in mutant blood, but you don't understand how painful it is to just stand here while you slowly die."
You watch as your father's face draws downward, his posture stiffening as he clenches his jaw while pointing a jabbing finger at your mother, his voice is low and even, scary even to you,
Your mother winces backwards as she pokes the inside of her cheek with her tongue as she tries to figure out how to explain to your father, her shoulders slump as she squeezes her eyes shut before speaking lowly, and under her breath,
"I sold, Y/n. You know the Buskers? I sold her to their eldest... for some, well for some extra cash.."
Your father's face grows pale as he takes a shaky step back before he rests his hand over his mouth, his words broken as he speaks,
"No... how-how could you? I'm not- I won't allow it, I won't allow you to sell away Y/n's right to choose for your own selfish gain, I will protect her, it's my choice as well as it's Y/n's for when she grows old enough to choose."
You watch as your mother doesn't look up, her eyebrows sewed together in thought as her lips move with the words that make your clench your hands into fists at your sides,
"It's too... late, the deal's done."
You don't flinch this time as you fall again, your eyes fluttering shut before you're shooting up in bed, your back strewn with sweat as you let out a yell of agony.
Your eyes open wide and full of desperation as you try to breathe normally again, your chest heaving as you gasp for breath, not being able to control your breathing.
You jolt away as you feel soft fingers brush over your back, your head snapping to the side as you find greenish blue eyes looking at your curiously.
You shuffle away as you gasp out, no repeatedly, your hands gripping your hair as you whimper.
Lenny's voice is soft as she grabs either one of your wrists gently,
"Hey, it's okay, Y/n, breathe... it's just a nightmare... just a nightmare.."
You struggle and squirm as she pulls you gently over and onto her lap as she combs her fingers through your hair, her hands pulling your fingers from your hair to rest them against her chest as she kisses your temple before whispering against your forehead, her lips moving with her words,
"Feel my breathing with your hands, my love, follow my lead, and it'll all feel a little better."
You squeeze your eyes shut tight as your eyebrows furrow in thought as you focus on her breathing and slowly but surely you feel your throat lessen, and breathing become easier to do as you gasp.
Lenny is gentle which is confusing as she counts down from 10, before whispering against your temple,
"We really need to see someone about these nightmares you've been having, sweetheart, they're not helping and they're only hurting you in the long run."
You furrow your brows as you part your lips as you try to speak, only to come out with a broken whimper, Lenny shushes you as she rests you down and against the pillows and against your better judgement you can feel your eyes drifting shut in exhaustion as you let out a soft yawn as you grip her shirt in your fist,
"Shh, beautiful, just go to sleep, I'll book an appointment with that therapist, you've been also having relapses from the supplements your mother gave you, which have been causing auditory and visual hallucinations."
You follow her breathing pattern as you allow for your eyes to drift shut one last time before you fall asleep curled against what you once thought was your kidnapper's chest, but now you're not so sure.
