Spiderman: Brand New Day Thoughts [heavy spoilers below]
Before we get into things, I just need to say that Spiderman: BND was AMAZING and I honestly might just go watch it again!!
(prepare for a whole slew of ramblings lol, definitely not organized I just got out of theaters)
Street-level Spiderman movie and it was honestly SOOO good! Got to see Scorpion, Ramrod, The Hand, etc. Also was introduced to Damage Control and ofc OFC it ends the way it ends with them, called it from the very beginning.
The shots were absolutely INSANE throughout the movie, seriously cinematography was popping off.
I wonder how Peter is able to afford all that tech/equipment, like he's unemployed and doesn't have access to Tony's tech either? Like 🤔 but also? He created a universal inhibitor??? Wow. I wonder how that's going to play into future movies, especially with the X-Men movie....
Ned inventing the spidey tracker app!!
The petermj angst in BND was 😭Peter was going THROUGH IT. As if he wasn't already depressed, MJ was kissing Paul... 😒 and went through a crisis that led to him essentially "molting" and gaining more of his spider abilities/dna. It was CRAZYYYYY and I LOVED the Peter 2 mention, because yeah Tobey was all natural (I miss them bad, need the three of them to reunite again ASAP!!)
BRUCEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!! He's a professor teaching physics 🥹 Bruce and Peter interacting reminds me so much of Tony and Peter and the Sciencebros 😭😭😭 BRING THEM BACK
I think it was really cool and interesting to see his spider genes taking over more and how he deals with the changes throughout the movie. His reaction to webs coming from him was so realistic and also funny, like SAME Peter 😂 especially when he was watching the spider video lol.
Yelena being in the movie was great, loved her scenes "small potato" "big potato" 😂

MJ & Frank being an unlikely duo but THEY WORK!!!
Any Peter and Frank interactions I ate UP, I really really REALLY loved their dynamic in the movie. As someone who watched the Marvel OG shows and Frank being one of my favorite characters for years, it was rlly nice seeing him in this movie. We see a more lighthearted side to him here, especially when he's with Peter and it reminds me of him and Amy. He's got a soft spot for kiddos 🥹 he was also quite funny in this too lol, his quips and squabbling with Peter was great!! BND's Staten Island is now like Clintnat's Budapest, I WANNA KNOW WHAT HAPPENED!!! GIVE ME THE MOVIE!!!
Jean Grey. JEAN GREY!!!!!!! I know Marvel already has an X-Men First Class-esque movie in the works and that they've casted some X-Men already, including Cyclops (which.... I still don't know my feelings about it), but the introduction to her character to the MCU was great. I actually didn't believe any spoilers/theories that I saw about Sadie Sink's character being Jean Grey, but here we are! She did an excellent job as Jean and I can't wait to see her in the X-Men movie (and no Marvel, Charles and Erik are NOT brothers). The continued Marvel curse of tragic siblings, I'm so sick of it WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM????? Stop killing off siblings like DAMN. Only sibling duo that is still ok so far is Shang Chi and Xialing. They rlly need to stop doing this, it is NOT ok. V-Max being the last thing her sister saw... that was so sad, genuinely ifykyk.
Damage Control, I could sense what they rlly were from the beginning and it's not surprising that things turned out that way. Organizations like them always and I mean ALWAYS will either try and utilize the powers themselves or find a way to take them down any means and ways necessary.
Peter and Detective DeWolff reminded me of Bruce and Jim lowkey, it was nice to see their interactions together.
Hulk remembering Peter. Bruce always worried that others were hurt and not himself, never himself. BRUCE BEING PUT INTO A PSYCH WARD???? THE AUDACITY??? And he's still in there by the end of the movie??? SOMEONE GET HIM OUT!!! PETER GET HIM OUT!!!! BRUCE GET BEHIND ME!!!!!
Peter's letter to MJ and MJ finding the letter and the conversation they had afterwards... pain I tell ya PAIN. "I love you." "I don't love you. I don't even know you." The way I wanted to give Peter a hug SO BAD, like that hurt BAD. Heart broken for petermj, I hope they get back together in the next movie.
Peter seeing Ned again and hanging out, building lego's and MJ's drawing of the two of them SOMEONE SEDATE ME!!!!
"Are you Peter Parker? Or are you Spiderman?" "I'm both." CHILLS!!!
The bedroom scene with Aunt May 😭😭😭 "But... this is what I want you to know. You're beautiful... and the people who love you... we love you not because you're special, we love you because you're you. I want you to remember that." What a powerful and meaningful quote. CUE THE WATERWORKS 😭😭😭

Frank's face when he realized he shot Peter instead, the acting!!! The emotions across his face!! So good
Jean breathing for Peter? Jean keeping Peter alive until he could actually start healing properly???? That was CRAZYYYYYYY I rlly loved that
Frank carrying Peter into the hospital. Frank and Peter's scene in the hospital room. Frank apologizing to Peter for shooting him and the "Are you crying Frank?" "I can't believe I just saw you cry." "I didn't cry. What are you talking about? LMAOOOOOO them laughing together about it too, so wholesome. "A nice kid. Never had a friend like that." "Are we friends now?" MY HEARTTTTTTTTTTTTTT 🥹❤️ Frank covering for Peter and his grunts in the hospital had me keeling over in laughter 🤣 they shouldn't have deleted the scene with Claire Temple, they should've kept it in!!
Peter seeing people supporting him and seeing the impact he had on others, that was a rlly touching scene, especially with that little kid <3 Peter you are so loved 🥹 must protect him at ALL COSTS!!
THE HANDSHAKE!!!!!! NED REMEMBERING IT!!!! BEST FRIENDS!!!! That made me tear up a bit. The movie ending there was PEAK, what a great way to end it. I also think that MJ might've remembered too, her crying when she was frozen and her with the necklace.
The post-credits scene with the spidey tracker! Probably most likely ties into Doomsday or very likely Secret Wars. SO EXCITED!!!!
(Rant incoming) I've been seeing a lot of discourse about Frank in BND and that line about not having a friend like Peter. First off, the characterization for Frank was not mischaracterized in BND, I've seen a lot of ppl saying Frank was a joke and he was very OOC, but I greatly disagree. That IS Frank. A lot of his interactions with Peter was very on-brand to how he interacted with Amy in S2. He has a soft spot for kids, and he refers to Peter as such too. He knows Peter would never hurt anyone and genuinely wants to do good. And that’s what he’s trying to say with the friends quote, he’s never had a friend like PETER. Like 😩 And he's not just doom and gloom, he’s human, like he's so much more and has many facets. And now, let’s get one thing straight... Matt and Frank are NOT friends. "What about Matt?" What about him???? They are not friends, they tolerate each other, annoyed coworkers kinda-esque at best. Karen, Curtis, Amy, Lieberman and Madani are his friends. And that's that. (also no Karen mention made me cry a bit on the inside lowkey, the potential Kastle angst we could’ve gotten)
Overall, really really REALLY enjoyed the movie!!
Also, I had such a nice encounter at the theaters for BND. A kind employee gave me the posters of BND that they were only supposed to pass out to others who are watching it in XD. I just had tickets for the normal format. An unforgettable memory!! Thank you to that kind employee for making my day!! 😊
