So I have a story where I shot King while he was pregnant and he lost the baby (it was twins actually, but he didn’t know that), this is a “What If” scenario/entirely new au based on that chapter.
-
Summary: Orochi hired Kaido to kill Oden, but Kaido kills Orochi instead because he respects Oden to a degree.
(No King, we are not friends, just brawling buddies. Stop laughing and go talk to Toki about Lunarian stuff.)
Anyways, Yamato has siblings! Wait… Siblings?! It was supposed to be just one! Fuck!
Warning: Not graphic, but King does give birth.
Context:
Lunarians are also intersex with some having more feminine frames and some with more masculine frames. There are also some that have androgynous frames of course. So the kids have they/them pronouns until they’re older.
Since Toki probably knows about Lunarians, King lets her see him unmasked as they have become close friends. Other than that, only Kaido and their kids see him without the mask.
King - 25 (Birthdate: December 1) Yamato - 5 (Birthdate: November 3) Kaido - 37 (Birthdate: May 1) Yasu & Yuki - Newborn (Birthdate: April 15)

April 15 - Onigashima - Wano
In the New World, on the closed off island of Wano, there was some joy to be had.
Alber, most commonly known as King or King the Wildfire, was playing with his oldest child in a courtyard.
You see, two and a half years prior, the Beast Pirates had been hired by a man named Kurozumi Orochi to come help him take over Wano. In return they would get a safe harbour to stay in and power over the country.
It was a tempting offer considering King and Kaido had a three year old running around their ship. A distant country that was closed off from the rest of the world and where few dared to go seemed to be a good place to lay down roots.
However, once they arrived, they quickly realised that the man Orochi wanted to take down was none other than Kouzuki Oden. A man who Kaido didn’t exactly like, but respected greatly.
So instead of causing a war, the Beast Pirates just helped kill Orochi and his men. As a thank you, Oden gave them the region of Onigashima to reside in.
It was an island just off the coast of the mainland. A place that they could make wholly their own and raise their child in.
Kaido wanted nothing more than for his best friend and partner to feel safe in his own skin. So he built him a courtyard on the top most floor of their base, right under a hole in the skull shaped dome they had built, with the only access being from either the sky or their quarters.
In the courtyard, there were beautiful gardens, a bridge over a small koi pond, and a pavilion. A perfect place for little Lunarian-Oni children to run around in.
Which was exactly what little Yamato was doing right now as King watched over them from where he sat on the pavilion, making sure they didn’t try to jump into the koi pond again. His child was quite fond of the fish for some reason, he theorised that it must have something to do with Kaido’s devil fruit.
Yamato had always been fond of their dad’s full dragon form. Always babbling away about how they wanted to be a dragon too. Although, lately they have been setting their sights on wanting to learn how to use a club like Kaido, having been given a smaller version last year for their birthday.
Yamato really did get nothing from me, King thought, Well, except for the hair that is.
Yamato did indeed have nothing from him except for the pale white hair they shared. Other than that, they were all Kaido’s from the horns on their head, the same temper, sleeping habits, and the lack of wings.
Kaido on the other hand adamantly thought that Yamato’s facial features were all King’s doing. Especially when their little one was mad.
The lack of resemblance had been something he worried over when he had first given birth, thinking that the scientists had taken so much from him that he couldn’t even pass on anything to his own child. But he eventually calmed down enough to remind himself that Lunarian genes were recessive to most species.
However, they had no idea where the teal ombre at the end of Yamato’s hair came from. It certainly wasn’t from King’s side of the family, unless one of his grandparents had it, so it must have come from Kaido’s side.
“Hopefully you’ll inherit more of my genes.” King said to his stomach, “Then we’ll have the best of both worlds.”
Despite the child currently in him being much bigger than Yamato was, this pregnancy was quite easy compared to the first. Although that may have had to do with the fact that during that whole pregnancy King was on a ship and the lack of a proper “nest” had been fucking with his instincts.
Which in turn kept him stressed out and paranoid the whole time. Which might've been why Yamato had been born early in the middle of a hurricane.
Yeah, this pregnancy was much better. This time he had time to relax and wear casual clothes if he wanted to rather than be on constant guard all the time. Not constantly worried about if the world government was about to find them.
They were even able to set up a proper nursery this time around, despite all the ongoing construction in their base, rather than transforming a part of their room into one. Although the baby would be staying with them for the first few months regardless.
Life was good.
“I see you three are enjoying yourselves.” Kaido remarked, smirking as he walked into the courtyard, “Got room for one more, angel?”
“Of course.” King replied, scooting over so Kaido could sit on the pillows next to him.
Once he was beside him, Kaido gently placed one of his hands on King’s stomach, feeling for their child. Sure enough, he got a sharp kick in response, which was another thing that was different from his first pregnancy.
With Yamato, they couldn’t feel anything, he barely even had a bump. If it wasn’t for his observation haki to let him know his child’s heart was still beating, King would’ve been sure that he was having a stillbirth.
“Hm, they’re strong.” Kaido commented, “I’m glad.”
“Me too.” King sighed, “Although, I can’t wait until they’re out of me. Do you know how many times I’ve had to piss today?”
Kaido just laughed and pulled his angel close as they watched Yamato chase a butterfly around the garden.
“Well I like seeing you like this.” Kaido stated, nuzzling into King’s hair.
“Pregnant and uncomfortable?” King asked, giving him a tired look.
“No, happy and at ease.” Kaido huffed, “Like you enjoy living. Makes my dragon all happy or whatever.”
“Hm, you did say after we found out about Yamato that you wanted to ‘wrap me up in silk and jewels’.” King said, “I suppose that was your dragon too?”
“Maybe, maybe not.” Kaido told him, “But you can’t say I never deliver.”
King rolled his eyes, but didn’t say anything because he was currently wearing a forest green silk shirt and had his hair in a bejewelled hairclip shaped like a dragon. One that looked very similar to Kaido’s devil fruit.
It was almost laughable, the ridiculous lengths Kaido would go to publicly show how much he cared about King. At first it was done subtly by just letting him do whatever he wanted so he wouldn’t feel trapped.
But once their feelings about each other grew romantic and they got into a relationship, well, subtlety went out the window. Anyone that looked too closely at King on the street, whether it was curiosity or lust at his leather armour, was met with a growl.
Hell, that’s how they ended up with Yamato in the first place. They had accidentally come across the Big Mom Pirates and a night full of one too many comments about arranged marriages from Linlin later; Kaido was carrying him back towards the ship.
And not even a week after they had gotten together, they were having their first child.
King couldn’t get too mad at Kaido though, if he ever did, because he was the same way. Making jewelry out of his feathers to put on Kaido later and actively threatening the lives of people who dared to flirt with his captain.
“Daddy! Papa!” Yamato yelled, waving their little arms, “Come look!”
Groaning, the two tired parents got up from where they were sitting and went to see what Yamato was so excited about.
“What is it brat?” Kaido huffed, helping King to kneel down beside the pond.
“Look! The frogs have babies!” Yamato exclaimed, “They’re all swimming together!”
Looking down, King and Kaido saw that the frogs did indeed spawn new tadpoles. A group of them swimming in and out of reach from the fish trying to eat them.
“Yes Yamato, they’re swimming with all their siblings.” King gently commented, “Soon you’ll have a little sibling to play with too, remember?”
“Uh-huh!” Yamato nodded, shaking their head so fast that Kaido had to catch them from falling into the pond, “Can we swim too?”
“Maybe when they’re older.” Kaido told them, “But for now, let’s go get some food.”
“Yay! Let’s go!” Yamato cheered before climbing onto Kaido’s shoulders.
Kaido stood up and then helped King get up as well, wrapping an arm under the other man’s wings to keep him close.
If anyone else were to see them like this, it would have been an uncharacteristic sight. Two brutal men being gentle with each other and their children? Inconceivable!
For them however, this was just everyday life. Safe and sound in their little spot of paradise.
Then King was suddenly collapsing as a searing pain shot through his stomach and his pants were drenched.
“Shit! Are you alright?!” Kaido asked, putting Yamato down so he could kneel beside the winged man.
“F- Fuuuck!” King gasped as he was on his hands and knees, “K- Kaido, it’s time! These kids want out now!”
“Wha- But we had til the end of April?!” Kaido shouted, panicked at how sudden this was.
“Well we don’t! Not anymore!” King yelled, grabbing Kaido’s belt loops and pulling him down beside him, “Not get me to our room before I tear a certain organ off of you!”
“Is papa going to be okay?!” Yamato asked, looking worried.
“Yeah. Yeah, he’ll be fine.” Kaido told them, trying to sound reassuring, “Your sibling is just about to pop out of him.”
“He’s going to explode?!” Yamato shouted, on the verge of tears now.
“No, he’s not.” Kaido quickly said as King let out a low groan, “Hey, I have an idea! Go run down the hallway and scream that the baby is coming.”
“I won’t get in trouble for running in the hall and being loud?” Yamato cautiously asked.
“Yes, just this once.” King huffed, “Now go.”
“Okay!” Yamato exclaimed, running to go do as they were told.
Meanwhile, Kaido stayed by King as rode out the contraction. Once it had passed, he was carefully picked up by Kaido who rushed him down to their bedroom.
They had to move quickly as lunarian births happened fast due to the size difference between parent and child. Even if this kid was bigger than Yamato was, they weren’t taking any chances.
Kaido just hoped that Toki could get here in time, he really didn’t want to have to be the one to deliver the kid like he did with Yamato. They came out so fast that Kaido almost didn’t catch them.
So he’d much rather have someone, like Toki, who was knowledgeable about Lunarian autonomy, had experience in being a midwife, and was also quick with her hands to guide the delivery rather than him.
Not that he’d tell King all that of course, the man was already stressed enough as is pushing the brat out.
-
Toki wasn’t going to make it. By the time Kaido got King settled in their quarters on the bed and grabbed everything they would need, King was already nine centimetres dilated.
It appears that King’s high pain tolerance had betrayed him and he didn’t feel the contractions until his water broke.
“You are never touching me again!” King shouted.
“Ha! That’s what you said last time!” Kaido laughed, dodging the kick aimed at him, “Now just relax.”
“Hmph, that’s easy for you to say.” King gritted out as the contraction passed, “You’re not doing all the hard work!”
"Yes angel, I know.” Kaido said in that oddly patient tone only King and Yamato got, “But you’re fully dilated now.”
Due to the size difference, it didn’t take long for the baby to slip out. A tiny screaming ball with black hair and… Oh, it had wings!
They weren’t fluffy though, they actually looked like un-cooked chicken wings. But they still might need to put a lid on the crib.
Kaido didn’t know, he never really asked King about his biology, it seemed rude. Plus, if King needed him to know something, he would have told him.
“Are they healthy?” King asked, exhausted despite how quickly it went.
“Yeah, but Toki can look them over when she gets here.” Kaido grumbled as he wiped most of the gunk off the baby, cut the cord, and wrapped them up.
He was about to hand them over to King, but other man’s body suddenly seized up.
“Ah, fuck!” King shouted, “I think there’s something stuck in there!”
“Deep breaths, it’s probably just the afterbirth!” Kaido told him, even though he didn’t sound so sure himself.
Bending down with the baby still cupped in his hand, Kaido looked for anything amiss.
“Um, you’re not going to believe this, but I think there’s another one coming.” Kaido stated.
“WHAT?! But we didn’t plan for two!” King yelled, slightly panicked.
Despite having Yamato five years ago, King still didn’t like it when his plans went to shit, but who could’ve known that they were having twins? Well, Kaido hoped it was just twins.
“Hold on, let me just- Shit, where do I put this one?!” Kaido said, panicking himself now as he had no idea where to put the first baby.
Thankfully, Toki finally arrived. Dramatically bursting through the door and quickly locked it behind her before rushing over to them.
“Oh dear, did I miss it?!” Toki exclaimed, “I’m so sorry! Oden was being such a drama queen!”
“Uh, no, just- Here! Hold this one!” Kaido told her, gently shoving the first baby into her arms.
“This one?” Toki asked, confused by what Kaido meant.
Her question answered itself as Kaido swiftly moved to catch the other baby that popped out.
“Oh my! Twins!” Toki joyfully said, “What a blessing! Very rare as well!”
“Doesn’t fucking feel like a blessing.” King groaned, “And there better not be another one in there.”
“Nope, I see the afterbirth right now.” Toki told him.
“Thank Nika.” King sighed before making a “gimme” gesture directed at Kaido, “Now hand them over.”
Kaido took the first twin back from Toki and then gently set both of them down on King’s chest. The babies whined for a couple seconds before they recognised who was holding them and settled down.
“They’re beautiful.” King whispered, softly rubbing the babies’ backs.
The two were very tiny, even smaller than Yamato was. So he must have been showing as much as he was due to there being two of them, plus the wings, rather than the size. Which he was quite thankful for as the birth of these little ones was bad enough.
“Yeah, they need some seasoning though.” Kaido joked, gently poking one of the twins' wings, making the baby whine and twitch, “They look like un-cooked chicken wings were glued to them.”
“Kaido! Don’t say that!” King scolded him, “Their feathers will grow in eventually! Toki, tell him!”
“He’s right, they’ll grow in overtime and they’ll need soft blankets for protection in the meantime.” Toki laughed, “But I have to agree with Kaido I’m afraid, they do look like un-cooked chicken wings.”
That made Kaido start laughing with her as King pouted.
“You’re both terrible.” King huffed before he turned his attention back to the twins, “Don’t listen to them; you’re adorable.”
The babies made some little mewling noises, but were otherwise unbothered as they didn’t understand. They were mostly just annoyed by how loud their dad’s laughing was.
-
About thirty minutes later, King was freshly clean, the bedding being changed while he was cleaning up, and he was settled on his right side with the babies next to him on the bed.
“Do you want me to let Yamato in? They’ve been climbing the walls in anticipation.” Toki told them as she gathered up the supplies used for the birth and the afterbirth to be thrown out.
“Please tell us you mean figuratively.” Kaido asked with an exhausted groan.
“I’m afraid not.” Toki replied with a sympathetic smile, “They were half way up to the rafters when I got here.”
Kaido looked at King who just tiredly nodded yes.
“Let them in.” Kaido told Toki.
“Will do.” Toki nodded, “Call if you need assistance.”
Then she walked out of the room and let Yamato in, shutting the door behind the overactive five year old.
“What colour is their hair?! What’s their eye colour?! Do they have wings or horns?!” Yamato yelled, “Are they huge?! They looked huge in papa’s belly!”
Yamato’s endless tirade was cut short by Kaido covering the child’s mouth as the high volume of their voice was making the twin’s whine and due to the fact that Yamato had essentially just called King fat.
Which was never a good thing to tell someone, especially someone who was exhausted and hormonal.
“Okay brat, I’m stopping you right there before you dig yourself a hole you can’t get out of.” Kaido told them, picking them up and placing them on the bed, “Now come meet your siblings and remember to be quiet.”
Yamato crawled over the bed to where the twins were curled up together on their sides. They were semi swaddled in blankets with their wings and arms free, making sleepy noises.
One was in a yellow blanket and the other one was in a green blanket.
“They have wings!” Yamato whisperer yelled, roughly poking the yellow twin’s wings and making the baby let out a squeak, “Chicken wings!”
“Hey, gentle hands.” King gently scolded them and moved Yamato’s hand away with his finger, then he looked at Kaido as if to say: “They’re as bad as you.”
Kaido just gave him an unapologetic grin and shrugged.
“That’s three people that all think they have chicken wings.” Kaido laughed.
King just rolled his eyes and gave up, he was too tired for this anyways.
“Wait… Why are there two babies?” Yamato asked curiously, “I thought there was only supposed to be one?”
“It doesn’t happen a lot, but sometimes there is more than one.” King explained, shrugging.
Unless you counted Big Mom in those statistics, then multiple births happened more often than singular births. Almost every other pregnancy to be exact.
“Oh, okay!” Yamato said before asking, “What are their names?”
“The one in the yellow blanket is Yuki and the one in the green blanket is Yasu.” Kaido answered, “Say hello and then we got to let them rest, brat.”
“Hi Yuki and Yasu! I’m your big sibling!” Yamato introduced themselves, “If papa tells you vegetables are good, don’t listen to him! They’re yucky!”
King let out a deep sigh, already having an inkling of the kind of effect Yamato would have on their siblings in the near future.
“Go play.” King told them, picking Yamato and giving them a kiss on their head, “I’ll see you in a couple hours. I love you.”
“Love you too, papa! And the babies!” Yamato exclaimed as they were set down, “Come on, daddy! Let’s go play with Momo and Hiyori!”
“I’m coming, just give me a minute.” Kaido said, turning back around to see King already passed out.
The winged man was curled up around the twins, an arm placed protectively around them. Keeping them both safe and warm.
Kaido gave the sight one of his rare smiles and leaned over to kiss King’s tattoo before stepping out of the room with Yamato. Locking the door behind them so.
Looks like everything would be okay after all.
