AAAH since you like writing shitfaced MHA SMAUs could you please write them drunk and rambling how you should have given your first kiss to them, not to some other guy (or maybe someone we know), pre-relationship? THANK YOU POOKIE, and could you please include Kiri, Katsu and Denki?
hi bookie biscuit, you rlly do know how to cater to my interests HEHE ily thank u for knowing me so well!!!
I think for the most part it should be gender neutral, but I could've slipped up and made some of it feminine so i'm super sorry!
Izuku Midoriya
Background: You've been flirting with each other for a couple of weeks now, but haven't put a label on anything.
"Which one do you think is better?" he smiled and held up two different figures. You looked at both the nearly identical figures then shot back up at him. "They look the same babe." you laughed as he looked down at the two allmight's in his hand. Izuku looked back up at you, his eyes furrowed down. "No they're not!" He said bluntly "This blonde is very clearly different from this one." He signaled to the figure in his right hand. "Also, these costumes are totally different." Izuku started going on a tangent, comparing the costume, how the colors were slightly different because of their undertones.
Five minutes through his little rant, you were already bored. Twirling your fingers through your hair, you began to wonder down to his lips. Without another thought, you pulled him in for a soft kiss that went on for maybe 20 seconds. By the time you pulled back, Izuku's face was fully red. He covered his face, a smile unintentionally creeping onto his face. "What was that for?"
"To get you to stop mumbling." You smiled at Izuku as you picked up one of the figures. "Get this one, I like the undertones better." He slowly put another one back, avoiding your eyes, blushing profusely.
Katsuki Bakugo
Background: Both been married for about 2 years, and you guys are watching the outsiders. (sorry for the people who haven't read/ watched it)
You were both on the couch, Katsuki's head in your lap, his face turned to the TV. Your hands ran through his spikey blonde hair. "You know, Ponyboy was way too overdramatic." He scoffed as his looked at the screen. "There was no reason to get that mad 'cause you got shoved by your brother." you looked down at him, your hands escaping his hair, earning a look from your husband. You picked up the remote to pause the movie. "Well, his brother shouldn't have been putting his hands on him, no matter how mad he was."
Katsuki got up from your lap to look at you. "My mom hit me, and I turned out just fine. That brat had what was coming to him, he came home late, and he was talking back. I think that's reason enough to be mad." he continuously kept talking about how Darry was in the right, and Ponyboy was some wild child who needed to be put in his place.
When he began to pass the one minute mark, you had enough. You took Katsuki by the chin and pulled him in for a kiss to get him to shut up. You got a glimpse of his confused and shocked face and laughed loudly at it. "What the hell was that?' he shouted as his fingers caressed his lips daintily. "I was tired of hearing you talk, you big dummy." You stated between laughs. Katsuki's head shot to your face quickly, a smiling forming like he was a little kid. He pounced on you, "You're not getting away with that you idiot." he chuckled softly, the warmth of his body warming yours as kisses landed all over your face.
Shoto Todoroki
Background: Dating for 3 years.
You and Shoto had been planning this date for months, it was at the nicest restaurant in all of Japan. You and him had drove for 2 hours to get there. The both of you had gone shopping prior to this date. You picked out a nice dark blue satin cocktail dress that hugged your waist nicely. Your boyfriend had gotten a tie that matched the color of your dress.
You both walked into the restaurant, Your heels making a clicking sound as you opened the door to get in. A smile coated your face as the sound of low chatter and violin playing in the distance made you feel at ease. You and Shoto walked over to the receptionist, she greeted you both and asked for the name on the reservation. When your boyfriend stated his name in his usual monotoned voice, the receptionist typed in the name onto her tablet. She looked up confused. "There isn't a reservation under the name 'Shoto Todoroki'"
Your boyfriend looked just as shocked as you were, "But thats impossible, we've had this reservation for more than a month!" You said worriedly. "I'm sorry ma'm, we don't have anything under that name, the only thing I can find is a reservation from last week." Shoto looked at you in shock as he cursed under his breath. "Okay, thank you miss." He said, as he walked out of the restaurant with you in his arm.
"I'm so sorry." He confessed as you both walked back to your car. When you sat in the car, he turned to you. "I'm sorry, I'm so very sorry, I didn't man to get the dates messed up. I've had so much on my mind.." He kept talking, as you listened to his apology deeply. "I didn't mean to do that, I wanted to make this date as perfect as possible, I just-" you pulled his tie in and kissed him slowly. When you pulled back you smiled at him. "it doesn't matter to me, you know that. We could go anywhere and you know I would still have fun. I wanted to go on this date because I wanted to be with you." you laughed and wiped his cheek with his thumb. "Hey, lets just go get tacos or something. Forget about this place."
Shoto's mouth curled into a smile as he pulled you into another kiss "I love you so much."
Eijirou Kirishima
Background + TW: Mentions of alcohol and weed, You guys are childhood best friends with a thing for each other. College age! You had a party in your dorm. You're both fried out your mind.
"Eijirou," You say giggling like a toddler on a sugar rush. "Can we go outside, its very loud in here." You say, your eyes squinted. He smiles, the whites of his eyes as red as yours. You both walk down the stairs and into the silent cold night. The two of you go behind the building together, laying your backs against the brick wall.
Eijirou opened a pack of cigarettes and offers one to you "You want one?" he said, quietly. You nod, digging into your pocket and pulling out a lighter. You it to your mouth, Eijirou doing the same. You flicked the lighter and fire came out as both of you putting your cigarettes to it. Smoke poured out of both of your mouth's as you laughed at the funny shapes it made.
You and Eijirou had been their for about 20 minutes and somehow ended up on the floor. You both turned to each other, looking at the others eyes, trying your hardest to make eye contact. "Your pupils are so big Eiji." You smiled, trying to poke his eye. He grabbed you hand, stopping you before you could do so. "Are you trying to kill me or something?" he flicked your forehead as laughter poured out of the both of you.
Both of you were extremely close, closer than friends should be.
"You know, your hair is so super cool." you touched the top of it. "Really? Thanks!" a huge smiled appearing onto his face. "I really like my hair, its a huge part of me, yah know." He backed against the building, his legs crossed. You followed him to the wall, pulling out another cigarette.
"You know, when I first had dyed my hair, back in middle school, I kinda did it impulsively." You turned to him, though the only thing keeping you occupied was his lips. They looked so soft and pretty. The blush pink color attracting you.
"Hey, Eijirou, you know what else is impulsive?" You said suddenly, before taking him by his shirt and kissing him. Your hands running through his hair as his much larger hands went to your waist.
When you had both pulled back, you both had a kiddish grin on your face. "Aww do we have to stop?" Eijirou said with a frown covering his face. He took your cigarette out of your mouth and threw it to the ground. Kissing you again, slower, but not loosing any of the original passion.
Ochako Uraraka
Background: Dating for 4 years, engaged for 4 months.
You and Ochako were getting married in 2 months, so you decided to go to a local bakery to pick out a flavor for your wedding cake. You walk in, hand in hand and go over to the baker. He was a sweet looking man with gray hairs popping out the side of his hat. He greeted the both of you and asked what the occasion was.
"Its a wedding! We're getting married after almost 5 whole years of dating!" Ochako excitedly announced, then shying away in embarrassment after realizing how loud she had been. "Oh? A wedding? That sounds fun! Save me an invite fellas!" He joked with the two of you, the both of you laughed along with him.
"So ladies, what are we thinking about? Do we have any flavors in mind?" The baker said with a smile, dusting some left over flour off his hands and onto his apron. "So our wedding is on the beach, meaning we're going to need something tropical." you tell him, resting your arm onto your soon-to-be wife's shoulder. "And guess what? Its going to be during a meteor shower!" Ochako squealed with a huge smile covering her face. "So I'm sure you can guess how we want the outside of our cake." you say, rubbing the back of your head, laughing softly.
The old man sat you and Ochako down at a table, bringing you both cakes he think you'd like based on the theme. The first cake was a strawberry cake, with a creamy vanilla frosting. Ochako gushed at the pretty pink color it gave off, stating it was her favorite. You just sat and stared at her big brown eyes. You blushed softly at how cute she looked eating her cake so happily.
The second one was orange flavored, you both ate it, both your eyebrows raising in shock as you looked at each other with a grin. The cake was delicious and melted into your mouth. Your fiance clearly agreed with you, since she had shoved the whole slice into her mouth and started reaching for yours. Ochako began to talk about the cake, complimenting anything she could think of. You began to stare at her again, though now, looking at the tiny piece of cake on her lip.
"I think we should get this one it-" She was cut off by you, capturing her mouth in a kiss. The kiss lasted for a little bit before you pulled back. Ochakos entire face turned bright pink as she played with her hair frantically. "What- what was that for?" You smile at her, wiping her lip softly "You had some cake on your lip, just wanted to help I guess." You called the baker back over and told him you'd pick this flavor for the wedding.
Could anyone help me find this author, I believe she decided to retire from Tumblr but kept her account on Aoi. She made these amazing fanfic about deku and reader were married and had kids. All of them were boys they had a bunny too, and another with kirishima, where they had a bunch of girls.
I just want to reread them so badly, they are masterpieces.
ez could i request headcanons for a first date with tamaki and kiri :) i love u
a/n: absolutely peach my love, thank you for being the first to request some bnha headcanons 💖 I love both of these boys so much 💖
warnings: none
Amajiki Tamaki
Ah this boy panics the instant the date is set. He begins jumping from idea to idea for the location and them falls into his regular pessimistic cycle thinking about how the date is going to bomb before he even makes a plan.
Mirio sets him straight and gives him a confidence boost. After they have a long talk they decide the best way to make him panic less and be as comfortable as possible would be to do something lowkey.
He ends up taking you to the park on a sunny day when there are food stalls around. He gets there waaaaaay too early. Like an hour early. Panics he got the time wrong. Checks his phone 4 times with the confirmation text. Freaks thinking you won’t show but swallows all the down and sits on a park bench (the chosen meeting spot).
His eyes practically light up when he sees you arrive 15 minutes before the time you were supposed to meet. If you smile and wave at him (call his name) he calms a little. This meant you wanted to be on this date with him. Good. No, THANK GOD.
A little jittery at first. Kind of mumbles about going for a walk. He shakes a little when you ask him to repeat because you didn’t catch it. Then he manages to say it louder and out practically beam. His heart skips a beat because that smile is for him. (okay he can do this.)
The two of you walk around the park and he tries so hard to think of something to say. You come to his rescue and start making conversation. “I heard the foodstalls around here a good!” Tamaki manages a shy smile. “Yeah, I wanted to try them...with you.” This boy is a sweetheart okay.
By the time the two of you get to the stalls he has a little more confidence and asks what you want to try first. His eyes are glued on the seafood stall when he goes. You pick up on that and point to it. “I think I want to try that one.” He turns to you a little surprised but then smiles. “Oh, me too.” (you know that).
The two of you continue going from stall to stall and you keep asking him questions. He wants so badly to return the favour but most he can manage is a “what about you?” but you can tell he is interested. Tamaki is really good at observing and listening so he prefers to hear what you have to say then talk about himself.
Tread gently around pushing to hard about himself, start of gently by asking some questions and he will eventually open up on his own. He wants to tell you lots of things but he feels far to vulnerable on the first date - it will come later.
The thing with Tamaki is to even get to this point of a first date the two of you would have to of been friends first with a fair bit of contact. Otherwise he would have had no courage to go on this date. Actually when he went to ask you he couldn’t get it out so you ended up asking him. But you left it to him to pick the place (you knew he wanted to ask you but couldn’t wait any longer).
Once the two of you have eaten your fill he doesn’t know what he should do. Should he end the date there and retreat home? He felt kind of hot being around you so long. He had liked you for a very long time and couldn’t imagine he would ever had gotten this far. he’s in a dream.
It has to be you who suggests continuing the day. He probably follow you anywhere but you can tell he is pushing himself already. You suggest sitting beneath the shade of the tree for awhile.
He sits against the trunk, loosely hugging his legs while you lie on the grass, looking up at the leaves of the tree. He is looking at you, not directly, he doesn’t want to be caught but his gaze lingers by you enough to see your face. Your expressions makes him feel warm and fluttery inside. He loves your face.
You talk familiar things. UA and your friends. The delicious food from the stand. You ask about his quirk. He asks about yours. It’s nice, casual and exactly what Tamaki needs to think this is going well. (it is).
When it comes to part ways you give him the warmest smile “I can’t wait for the next date.” Tamaki felt his heart race. Another date. That was good. You wanted to see him again. Wait had he heard you correct? Was his mind running off with a fantasy.
“I’ll text you tonight, okay?” You insisted and he nodded, his cheeks blushing vibrantly. You were going to message him. You were going to go out with him again. Tamaki walked home in a daze that day and his cheeks didn’t cool down for a looooong time lol.
Kirishima Eijiro
This boy asks you out. And when he does he comes across as super confident, maybe a little bashful but trust me, inside he is a nervous wreck because this is you! The person he likes! He feels unworthy but he can’t sit on these feelings anymore.
When you agree he is the happiest he has been. You like him back? Amazing! Starts planning the date immediately while constantly texting you ideas. Bare with him, he’s excited okay. You gotta make him chill though or he will NEVER decide.
The ultimate decider is you messaging “Hey, let’s do this one first and then we have plenty more dates after to do the rest.” You don’t see it but he blushes hard with the BIGGEST smile when he reads it. Queue smashing his face into the pillow he is lying on. He likes you a lot okay.
You ended up settling on bbq and arcade date. (he loves his meat okay and honestly seeing his eyes shine over it is a reward in itself). Surprisingly though he doesn’t eat as much as usual. He’s still enthusiastic about it but the boy is nervous! Smile the whole time but also chock full of adrenaline and a little jittery. Wants to go go go!
He talks a lot. Like a lot a lot. He can’t seem to stop. Sometimes you don’t even get an answer but god he is just so cute when he is nervous lol. He’s this giant ball of energy. When he stops to shovel food in your mouth it’s you chance to get a word in.
Now don’t get me wrong, he would never talk over the top of you (and he doesn’t) but when it’s his turn to talk he can’t seem to stop. The two of you make it through lunch and when he shoots up to leave you can’t help but chuckle. Nothings more complimentary that he’s excited right? Excited to be with you.
On the way to the arcade though you have to do something. You have to make him chill a little or he is going to explode. Grabbing him by the hand you stop him by the entrance. He looks down at your hand in his and he blushes a little. He chuckles nervously too but before he can ramble again you say his name, stopping him.
“Hey,” you say softly and with a smile, “I’m nervous too so let’s take our time okay? Don’t run off on me.” Kirishima’s heart = exploded. Heart eyes to the max right here.
He takes a deep breath in and out. “Right!” He smiles and opens the door to the arcade. “Nice and easy.” He mumbles to himself.
He chills a little more after that. He’s more like himself and letting the conversation flow naturally instead of constantly stimulating it along. Now you get to tease him whenever you win a game. He doesn’t really care about winning but he lives for the banter, especially when you kick his ass in the shooter games. Higher accuracy for the win. Just poke your tongue at him or wink and he’ll melt.
There two of you are there for hours. Time goes so quickly. It’s dark before the two of you know it. “Damn.” You hear Kirishima say as he notices. “Let’s cash in our tickets.” You suggest. “I’ll use mine to pick out something for you and you do the same for me.”
The two of you search the small shop, realising despite having lots of tickets it doesn’t buy much. You settle on a small, red punching glove that fits on one finger. He settles on a little key chain of you favourite anime character (omg he remembered you mentioning it?) a very cute boy indeed.
The two of you bid farewell. “Do I get a chance at a second date?” He asks. You smile and leave him hanging for a moment. “We have to see all those places sometime don’t we?” Okay he can get used to this.

kirishima and bakugou reacting to their s/o being a lightweight
kirishima
♡ he keeps drinks away from your ass when you told him you were a lightweight. even though he'll never say it cause he's a nice little fuck, he ain't trying to deal with no drunk person if it's you or not
♡ sis trust me he's a lightweight too, and anyone can fight me on that. but he don't drink nothing.
♡ he's the most underwhelming person at a party with his 'oh no thanks i don't drink' headass.
♡ but when he lets you take a shot, and you were already acting like you drank 86 bottles, he was watching you like
♡ he's lowkey contemplating if he should just leave you on the sidewalk cause you're a whole mess
♡ while he's over there trying to refuse a drink you're over there poppin a few more shots
♡ "kirishima,, who is this beside you in this picure" you show him a picture of you and him
♡ ",,,,,you?" "nO it isn't are you CHEATING ON me kirishima??"
bakugou
♡ will ALSO keep drinks away from you once you tell him
♡ but unlike kirishima, he TELLS you that he can't deal with your ass sober, so he don't when you plastered.
♡ so obv that shit made you mad so you were finna drink a little
♡ he sees you taking a sip, but let's it off the hook cause who can get drunk from a sip?
♡ well obviously y/n, bakugou.
♡ you come stumbling over there to bakugou while he's all
♡ "how the fuck are you drunk you only took a few sips????"
♡ he's confused, confused, and CONFUSED
♡ now he's sitting there watching you run around with your drunk self
♡ well ofc he's gonna grab you so you don't get smart and try to drive or sumn
♡ but for the time being he's sitting there watching you be a clown, but a lovable one 😗😗😗😗

Kirishima x reader
Word Count: 625
The entire school was in a frenzy of sorts. It was Valentine’s Day and all the girls were frantic to give their crushes chocolates or other carefully selected gifts. This included you. You had been building up the courage for a long time to tell your one and only crush how you felt about him and today was the day!
Ideally, you wanted to wait for the perfect moment, but you saw your chances flying by as other girls in the class were handing him chocolates, too. Kirishima Eijirou graciously accepted each one with a smile; it was the manly thing to do, after all. However, after each girl that approached him, you felt your heart race faster and faster. What if he liked one of the other girls more than you? What if he decided not to accept yours after accepting so many others’?
The bell for lunch could not have rung any sooner. You practically jumped from your seat, homemade chocolates in hand, and steadily walked over to Kirishima’s desk. Kaminari was turned around talking to him already, but he stopped as you approached and looked up at you expectantly. A dark blush colored your cheeks as Kirishima smiled at you. “Hey, y/l/n. Having a good Valentine’s Day?” You could only nod in response.
Your words froze in your throat as you slowly held out the box of chocolates. Kaminari groaned dramatically. “What the hell, Kirishima? How did you manage to make friends with all of the girls in our class?” Kirishima gave a nervous laugh as he accepted the chocolates from your hands. Your heart sped up even faster as you waited for his response.
“I dunno, Kaminari. Maybe it’s because I don’t hit on them all the time?” Kirishima gave another laugh as his friend shot him a glare before turning his gaze to you. “Thank you so much, y/l/n. I think you’re a really great friend, too.” You felt your heart sink into your gut, his words repeating in your head over and over.
Really great friend.
That was all the more he thought of you. That was it. There was no reason for you to confess, anymore. Giving a short nod, you turned from him and left the classroom as quickly as you could without making a scene. The moment you thought it was safe, you let your tears streak down your face as you sought refuge.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kirishima was startled by the look on your face before you turned away. It looked like you were about to cry. His chest clenched and he thought to go after you, but Kaminari’s voice pulled his attention. “Yo, dude. I think these are homemade.” Kaminari was opening the box of chocolates you’d given him and he quickly snatched them away.
“Those aren’t yours, don’t be rude. It’s unmanly.” Kirishima looked down at the chocolates that had been carefully molded into yen-sized “R”’s. They were definitely homemade. They were still in school and there was no way he’d earned enough of a following to get his own merch, yet. His brow furrowed in confusion.
Had you not been giving him chocolates out of friendship, then? What if you actually liked him? Kirishima bit his lower lip in thought. It would be really nice if you liked him. He’d been harboring a crush on you since you’d transferred to U.A.. You were always this shining beacon and he always felt himself gravitating towards you.
If you liked him and he’d just called you a great friend… Kirishima groaned. “Oh, shit.” His hand covered his face as Kaminari gave him a concerned frown. No wonder you’d left like you did!
Summary: Bakugou (25) is a single dad of four year old Hatsuki. Full-time Hero, full-time dad, full-time exhausted and lonely, but he’d never admit that aloud to anyone.
You and Kirishima have been dating for a while and often babysit Hatsuki as Bakugou relies on everyone in his friend pool to help in a situation he never expected to find himself in but wouldn’t change for the world. He craves companionship and familial stability for his daughter but assumes no one would be good enough, not for either of them.
But maybe he’s been looking in all the wrong places.
Bakugou x Reader x Krishima Poly AU. Short drabble chapters posted sporadically. I don’t know how long this will be, it’s just an idea that I had and fleshed out with @weebonfilm and decided to write it out officially. I want to explore a healthy polyamorous relationship while also dealing with the difficulties of raising a kid in a world full of Heroes and villains.
Let me know if you guys like this and want to see more! I’ll be working on this in between “Be Still, Just for Me” chapters as inspiration finds me.
_____________________________
The schoolyard buzzed with the laughter children skipping along the sidewalk to meet their waiting parents and guardians on the other side of the fence. Others held hands to walk home together in safety if no one was there to pick them up.
Bakugou had been called in for an emergency villain attack downtown while Kirishima wouldn’t be home from his own patrol until later that night, so you stood alone next to the other adults and waited for Hatsuki to exit her kindergarten class. Bakugou said he “owed you one” but it was no trouble at all; you didn’t mind. She only started school a few weeks ago but Hatsuki seemed to adjust to her classmates and new schedule without much fuss.
Among the slimming crowd of children, Hatsuki walked at an oddly slow pace, alone with her purple backpack dragging behind her. Normally full of laughter and smiles, her downtrodden demeanor put you on edge as she walked closer.
It was only then you noticed the snot bubble under her nose and puffy red eyes that put you on high alert. “Hatsuki! Honey, what’s wrong? Are you OK?” you asked with a tone of urgency as you bent down to her level.
She said nothing, her head down and lip quivering. Your heart clenched at the sight of this little firecracker of a girl on the verge of tears. “Your daddy had an emergency at work, so I’m here to pick you up...c’mon. Let’s go get some ice cream, OK? Just keep it a secret.” Something to distract her. Picking her up under the arms, Hatsuki buried her face in your neck as you slung her backpack over your shoulder before you walked quickly to your car. Bakugou hated driving but people on public transit often got on your nerves, so you were one of the few people he knew who drove regularly.
After making sure she was buckled in safely to her car seat, you slid into the driver’s seat and headed towards the nearest ice cream stand. Bakugou had tried to pay you and Kirishima back for the car seat but you refused to take his money. The ice cream parlor was out of the way from your normal route home, but this seemed like an emergency.
“What flavor do you want, Hatsuki? You can have whatever you want.” She stood next to you in line, her own tiny hand gripping your fingers as she looked up at the sign above the window. Despite her quick learning pace, she could only read a few words so you listed off the flavors for her to pick from.
“...Mochi flavor,” she finally said in a small voice. It was the first time she’d spoken since you picked her up. A small win in your book.
You ordered for her and yourself before she tugged on your hand. “Chocolate sprinkles?” It truly was difficult to say “no” to that adorable face of hers. Bakugou really did have his hands full.
Once you grabbed the frozen treat from the man behind the window - you got a cone while Hatsuki got a cup and spoon - you led her to a nearby bench. Hatsuki handed you her cup while she jumped and crawled up on the bench, adamant that she didn’t need help. A streak of stubbornness inherited from her father, no doubt.
“Here,” you said, handing her back her cup. Hatsuki gripped the spoon and stuffed the mochi-flavored ice cream into her mouth, a chocolate sprinkle already stuck to her cheek.
You waited a minute to see if she’d bring up on her own whatever had bothered her earlier, but when she seemed wholly focused on her ice cream you swallowed a bite of your own before asking what needed to be asked. “Hatsuki?”
“Mmhm?” She didn’t look up but acknowledged her name.
“Can you tell me why you were sad earlier?”
She held the plastic spoon in her mouth before sliding it out slowly, her ruddy cheeks puffed out with the conclusion that if she didn’t swallow her ice cream she couldn’t talk. Too bad for her ice cream always melted.
“Did something happen at school? I won’t be mad, I promise.” If something truly terrible happened and you couldn’t keep your promise then you’d deal with it, but you needed her to trust you for the time being.
Finally, she wiped her mouth with the back of her hand but you cleaned it off with a napkin so she wouldn’t get her school dress dirty. Without looking up she said, in a voice low and timid, “Shinji-kun said, he said um, he said that I don’t have a mom so my family isn’t as good and-”
“He said what?!” You raised your voice far louder than you meant to but a wave of anger hit you like a train at Hatsuki’s words.
“You said you wouldn’t get mad!” Fat glossy tears welled up in her eyes and you forced yourself to calm down. Forgetting your ice cream, you tossed it into the trashcan next to the bench and picked Hatsuki up in your lap.
“Shh, sorry, sorry. I didn’t mean to yell. I’m not mad at you, firecracker. Why would he say something like that? You know your dad loves you very much. And some families only have a dad, or just a mommy, and sometimes two dads...shh, it’s alright.” You held her close and let her cry it out as you thought about how to make her understand that this Shinji brat really needed to be taught a lesson.
Bakugou had worked far too hard as a single dad to take care of his daughter and provide for her the best he could for him to put up with that kind of criticism from some kid in her class. When he wasn’t around to defend himself, you stepped up to the task without hesitation.
Hatsuki clung to your shirt with her small fists, the hair band holding her soft blonde hair a bit lopsided. Bakugou had gotten better about fixing her hair out of spite after Kirishima said he couldn’t braid hair to save his life. After a few weeks, he got better but you still made ponytails faster than he did. He tried his hardest with the resources he had to be the best father he could, that much was obvious.
She said something too low for you to hear, muffled by the fabric of your shirt. “Speak up, Hatsuki.”
“Can you be my mom? You’re nice and give me ice cream and, and daddy likes you and uncle Kiri a lot and, and I promise to be good!”
You didn’t know your heart could jump into your throat so quickly and without warning, but it did. Suddenly feeling your own eyes damp from the threat of tears at Hatsuki asking such a gut-wrenching question, you pulled yourself together and attempted to smile down at her.
“Honey...I...you have no idea how much it means that you’d ask that, but I can’t.” Hatsuki buried her face in your shirt and you ran your fingers over her soft hair. “No, no more crying. Uncle Kiri and I care for you very much. Uncle Deku and Uraraka and everyone else, too. And your daddy loves you more than anything. For someone to be your mom...he has to love them, too. Understand?”
It was surely a hard thing for a four-year-old to hear and comprehend, but you had to be honest, both for her sake and for yours. You thought back to the conversation between you and Kirishima about Bakugou’s lack of romantic personal life and unwillingness to date. If no one was good enough for him, no one was good enough for Hatsuki, either. But she needed stability, and if she saw that Bakugou was struggling with his own lack of companionship then something needed to change.
“No...I guess,” she admitted in a small voice, a sniffle rising out from her damp nose. You wiped her face with your remaining napkin. Explaining this to Bakugou when he got back - because it needed to come from you and not his kid - was going to be a fucking task.
As if on cue, your phone buzzed in your purse. Pulling it out, you saw it was from Bakugou himself:
“Just finished. Be there soon.”
“C’mon, let’s go back to the apartment, OK? Your dad will be by soon to pick you up.” Luckily, she didn’t argue and just remained quiet as you picked her up and headed back to the car.
She was already asleep, exhausted from the rush of an emotionally draining day no doubt when you pulled into the parking lot. After laying her down on the couch and covering her with a blanket, her stuffed shark tucked neatly under her arm, you waited outside for Bakugou and wondered how the hell to bring this all up to him.
It wasn’t long before you saw the familiar tuft of pale blonde hair and wide-shouldered silhouette come up the walkway. He looked no worse for wear, luckily.
“Hey, she inside?” Stopping a few feet away from you, the inquisitive look on his face was obvious. “What’s wrong? And don’t bullshit me, I can tell when you’re stressed.”
Glancing over your shoulder to make sure the door was closed, you stood up from your seated position on the stairs and looked into those crimson eyes of his. They were darker than Eijirou’s, not quite the same shade of red. The color of cooling magma compared to a sunlit ruby.
“We gotta talk, and you aren’t gonna like it.” Best to cut straight to the chase than evade and tiptoe around the topic.
Bakugou’s jaw immediately clenched. “What happened? She OK?” His eyes darted quickly to your door but you quelled his protective instincts.
“Yes, yeah she’s fine. Just napping. But something happened at school…”
You explained everything, from the car ride to get ice cream to the brutally honest confession only children could make so easily. The entire time Bakugou stood still, leaning against the railing with his hands stuffed into his pockets as though hoping he could disappear into them as you retold events.
“Listen,” you finally said when everything had been laid bare. “Kids don’t think before they say things-”
You thought he’d blow up and ask for the name of Hatsuki’s classmate, that he’d jump to defending himself and his hard work being a single dad...but he didn’t.
“Nah, they do. They’re smarter than we give ‘em credit for.” The boot of his heel dug into the concrete of the stair, grinding down on the gravel while the rest of him remained frozen. “Basically, I’m not enough, is what it comes down to.”
Immediately, you stood up and faced him at this rare vocalized boute of inadequacy. “You know that’s not true! If that brat in her class hadn’t said anything then-”
“Then what?!” Finally he looked up, a jarring mixture of hurt and worn down apathy shining in his eyes. “She’d say something eventually. She’d bring it up on her own. Fuck, she’s already getting bullied and I’ll be damned if I let her go through the same shit I put Deku through.”
As if realizing he’d said too much, Bakugou cut away from you and stared out onto the grass below the building. You didn’t know much about the history between him and Deku, only that they got along well-enough now as adults. Something must’ve happened when they were children, but it obviously wasn’t the right time to ask.
“You are not alone in this. Eijirou, me, everyone else: we’d do anything for Hatsuki and you damn well know it. I want nothing less than to see her smiling. And...and obviously I can’t be what she asked me to be.” Bakugou shifted his eyes your way before quickly returning to staring a hole into the ground below. “But I can still be there so long as you want me there.”
Bakugou sighed heavily through his nose and ran a hand slowly through his ashy hair. “She isn’t your responsibility. I won’t ask more of you guys than I already do, and that’s a fucking lot.”
You just shook your head and stepped down to force him to look at you. When he was like this, rarely vulnerable despite trying his best to hide it, you thought he looked painfully handsome; you’d never admit that to Eijirou, though.
“You act like she’s a burden to us when she’s not. Far from it. But…” Rolling your tongue around the back of your teeth you wondered how to word this without starting a full-blown fight. “I do think she needs someone else. You need someone-”
“God, don’t start this shit again. You sound like the old hag.”
“- for your sake, not just hers. Of course you’re enough for her, we all know that...but is that enough for you? When’s the last time you went on a date?”
Bakugou hung his head and scoffed before chuckling, low and bitter. “A long damn time. Hatsu didn’t like ‘em, and what she says goes. She can read people, can tell if they’re good or not. Me? I don’t need shit.”
The lie was painfully obvious, but he already knew that. “Just think on it. If you’re happy, she’s happy. Until then, you know she’s welcome here anytime. You’re welcome here anytime.”
The invitation was open and hung in the air like the vibrations of a wire strung precariously high in a circus tent waiting for the acrobat’s foot to land. It marked the end of the conversation.
“We should get home,” was all he said. You led him inside to Hatsuki sleeping soundly on the couch. Bakugou picked her up, careful not to stir her awake, and paused after he opened the front door to leave. “I’ll pick her up from school tomorrow.”
Once the door closed behind him and the sound of silence echoed painfully loud in your apartment, you let yourself sink into the couch as your head fell in your hands with a soft thud.
That night, you and Eijirou lay in the bed you shared. You’d summarized everything a second time for his sake. Supportive and compassionate in a way you’d only dreamed a partner could be, he listened and supported you when he could. Hero work and the sometimes depressing realities that accompanied it nearly overpowered him at times. You balanced each other out.
“He’s always been like that. Stubbornly independent,” Kirishima mumbled sleepily against his pillow, red gemstone eyes staring at you in the darkness.
Humming to yourself, a question stuck to your tongue like syrup and you couldn’t help but feed the need for selfish validation. “Eijirou?”
“Hmm?”
“Do you think I’d make a good mom?” Hatsuki’s words rang in your ears even now, hours later.
Eijirou stilled, a breath held in contemplation before a strong hand came up to brush a calloused thumb against your cheek. “Of course you would. You’d be an amazing mom. Hatsuki wouldn’t have asked if she didn’t mean it.”
You placed your own palm against the back of Eijirou’s hand and squeezed. “I know...but I’m not her mom. Bakugou needs someone else for that role. One day, though. For now we’ll just be uncle and auntie so long as he’ll let us.”
Bringing you close, he kissed your forehead before wrapping a scarred arm around your back. “I do make a pretty fun uncle so long as she doesn’t snitch that I give her lots of candy.” He snickered in your ear as you closed your eyes and attempted to sleep.
One day would come sooner than either of you anticipated.
