The relatively unknown Secretary of State for Education, Kit Malthouse, has been accused of taking "cheap shots at a profession already on its knees" during his Conservative Party Conference speech. He accused school and college leaders of “hanging on to meritocracy" As over almost 90% of schools are rated by Ofsted as either good or outstanding, this clearly isn’t true.
