Well this radicalised me, especially the substack article linked at the bottom of the post.

Chivalric compadres, what's the logic behind the whole Minors DNI culture we've got going on in here? (Tone: genuinely asking for information, not remotely challenging, because I'm relatively new to Tumblr and still figuring this stuff out.)

I've been doing the whole "minors and ageless DNI" thing on my blog, and checking everyone who interacts with my posts and blocking left and right, because I see a lot of strong MDNI statements in our community and I don't want to be fucking up in here. When in Rome and all that. But I am now having Thoughts And Feelings about it, having read the above-linked post which was sent to me by one of my own IRL Queer Elder Mentors.

I absolutely do not want my smut crossing the dash of anyone who doesn't want to see it, and I think I've now figured out the best and simplest way to prevent that is just to use the mature content flags before posting as the tumblr gods intended.

But if minors want to read my smut, do I actually have a problem with that? No, I don't think I do. Lord knows I read enough online smut as a newly horny minor back in the year of our lord 1999, and tried my hand at writing it for the first time too (with mixed results - I had so little idea of how genitals even function back then, very embarrassing and funny in retrospect).

I think I would actually, in an ideal world, like my blog to be a space where anyone who wants to can hang out and enjoy their bodily feelz while IRL being alone in the privacy of their own room, perfectly safe and horny and happy.

What's the risk in me saying this stuff? Am I courting the banhammer here? Do y'all know folks who got their accounts terminated for getting into smutty reblog chains with minors? Or simply for failing to block every minor they saw? Or is it just that some of you have a strong personal preference to cultivate an adult-only environment in the places where you're being horny, and I'm misinterpreting that as a requirement of participation?

No shade to anyone's boundaries, your privacy preferences are entirely valid! But honestly the only reason I've been running minors and ageless blogs out of my notifs is because I'm afraid y'all will think I'm gross if I don't.

Is there a more practical reason why I should keep being hypervigilant about cultivating an adults-only space on this blog? Asking for a me, and for horny minors everywhere.
