for a moment i thought she would tilt the igloo of the sofa
Oh, that has happened numerous times. It’s part of the conditioning process to get it to the perfect level of softness and fluff. :D

omg Sulk Pumpkin is so much better than teepee
Yeah, I’ve seen them marketed as “domed beds”, “acorns”, and “teepees”, but interestingly Chewy appears to have started out selling them that way and then renamed them. You don’t see them for sale that way anywhere anymore.
It was really you guys who started calling it the Pumpkin, so you have yourselves to thank for that one!

I was worried for a second that Polk was attacking Dearborn in the Sulk Igloo but, no, she's just attacking the mat. Though that does beg the question - do the Terror Sisters ever attack one another in the Sulk Shelters, or are they sacrosanct?
Well, they don’t wrestle in them the way they would on the carpet. Which they don’t do a ton of anymore anyway, though occasionally they’ll do it in bed in the morning.
But they do this thing, I’m still trying to decide what kind of behavior it is, where when one of them is in the pumpkin and the other one wants to come in, sometimes the one in the pumpkin will paw at the one entering, or nip them on the legs as they enter. I don’t think it’s aggression because neither of them have the classic Angry Signs (ears back, hissing, etc) but it doesn’t quite seem to be grooming, either (Dearborn in particular will often bite Polk quite hard when grooming her -- again it’s not aggression and Polk will shove her off if she gets tired of it, and it doesn’t seem to hurt her). Sometimes they also do it if one is on the Sleeping Spot on the back of the couch and the other one wants to join them.
I think it must be some kind of den behavior -- like “hey, wipe your feet when you come in,” or maybe “I’m here, don’t step on me.”

If you watch the clip on continuous loop, it does look like something out of Portal. The cat is a lie!
knock-kneed replied to your post “Polk is still breaking in the new Sulk Pumpkin.”
Oh man, someone needs to edit this into a Portal-style gif loop!
I think I can achieve that! If I convert it to a .gif I may be able to bump up the “emerging from orange” side so that she emerges from Orange when she walks into Blue.

Sam, consider that you are one accidentally stopped crime while running in this get up away from being a superhero origin story.
Oh god I don’t wear this while running, I would die and/or be shot by the police. :D
sam, if you're still taking suggestions for things to archive-- your essays both on Disney World and its place in our culture and also Halloween as a month-long inversion festival before winter sets in were really interesting.
AHhhhhh yes I need to save the Disney Darkness post. The Halloween one I might or might not save -- I got a lot of flak for it from people with extremely poor reading comprehension -- but I suppose better to save something good-but-frustrating than not save it at all.

It’s entirely possible. I just wish while Ghost is in there they’d fix the left wheel that keeps jamming.
knock-kneed replied to your post “Today in Sam Plays the Ukulele”
That's one of the first songs I learnt on the ukulele! There's a neat fingerstyle tutorial floating around on the youtubes (that I learnt because I'M STILL SO BAD AT STRUMMING)
You know I figured out why I was so bad? Maybe this will help, IDK.
When I started I was positioning my arm diagonally above the strings -- if the strings were a flat line, my arm was like a thirty degree line emerging from it, and my hand was where the two lines met. So strumming down was clumsy but doable; strumming up, I’d catch the strings diagonally with my nails and it would sound weird, and it also felt very unnatural.
I tried aligning my arm with the strings, so my wrist follows the line of the strings, if that makes sense, and suddenly strumming was a million percent easier -- my fingers stopped hooking on the strings on the up strum, and started hitting them much more evenly on the down strum.
I feel like if ukulele tutorials would stop talking about strumming from the wrist SO much and talk a little more about wrist positioning itself, a lot of beginners would struggle less.
i finally looked into why my legs are weird and it turns out i'm knock-kneed and i'm not even supposed to run because it will give me arthritis.
there's a surgery for it, looks scary. you get pins put in and bone surgerized. but it takes pressure off your knees and hips and can be life-changing.
just another stupid thing to add to my list of things i never remember at doc appts.
below the cut is my leg lol
