Character thing: Kvothe, Denna and Elodin :D

Kvothe:

First impression

You are testing my memory right now. Ummm, but I believe that what convinced me to read the book was the boast Kote does, like before he tells the story and “becomes” Kvothe again. And I was like, “I’m going to like this guy. He’s worth a 600+ page book.”

Impression now

We have a lot in common. He’s so relatable and broken and he needs a hug and a stable home and family. Also, his character should not work?? Like, it’s a miracle he didn’t become a Mary Sue, but the fact that he’s so complex??? Mind blowing.

Favorite moment

ONE???? Well, I love all his scenes with Auri, and the last scene with Denna in WMF is so bittersweet, but probably that moment when he describes seeing Fela fall in love with Sim. Like, he so rarely gives himself time to appreciate love, not only the romance blossoming between them, but his platonic love for Sim and appreciation of Fela. And it’s so beautifully written. It’s nice to see him focusing on the positive, forgetting all the negative stuff in his life temporarily.

Idea for a story

So like, I low-key want to write a modern romance for Denna and Kvothe, like them growing up in each other’s lives. I don’t know. I also want to write him a therapy session because, boy, he needs to talk about his past and totally has to deal with the trauma of seeing his entire troupe killed.

Unpopular opinion

This might be one: I think he and Denna, after the story ends and Kvothe moves on with his life (and hopefully doesn’t die), start a relationship. Because they are probably going to have a short-lived passionate fling, where their egos get in the way and their instincts of self-preservation and fear of commitment get in the way. But as exes who have grown up by themselves and had time to become healthier individuals, they could have a successful, happy relationship. (and I know you guys are going to tell me this will never happen, but let me dream while I wait for my book, they deserve a happy ending!!)

Favorite relationship

Well, since I just ranted to guy guys about Denna, platonic Auri and Kvothe is my kryptonite. It’s lovely and true and I just love their dynamic together. I also want him to introduce her to more of his friends. 

Favorite headcanon

Acting was harder than acting for him growing up and he only got really good when it became a tool of survival in Tarben. (I should have more of these but I don’t??)

Denna:

First impression

I’m pretty sure I liked her. I was like, “Thank God, there’s a girl!!!!” (if you don’t remember, there are like barely any female characters up until that point, 200 something)

Impression now

What an awesome foil character for our lead, but also can stand alone, and she’s such a survivor. Like, one of the reasons people often don’t like her is because she does stuff that will keep her alive and safe, not to please anyone else. I love her and protect her with my last breath.

Favorite moment

Horses. I love all her moments (well, when she fights with Kvothe, I get very upset) but when we see her outsider her relationship with him, without her public face on, getting very personal, yet staying vague, we learn so much about her, and you understand, finally, how much she’s been through up to this point.

Idea for a story

I’m kind of writing one right now??? So, we’re going to see her talk about herself,probably with a bartender of sorts, and, in true Denna fashion,  she will stay super vague, but get very deep and emotional. I want to bring out the depth I see in her, kind of like a … fictional character study if you will. 

Unpopular opinion

I love her??? (This is becoming more popular) She and Kvothe could be a cute couple (see above for details) She is worth Kvothe’s pining. She actually is in love with him too and has almost the exact same feelings towards him as he does her.

Favorite relationship

We really only see her with Kvothe, which I love. All their moments make me so happy. But shout out to her very few scenes with Wil and Sim. Their dynamic, all four of them together, is so natural and authentic. I want more scenes with them all together, plus Fela, which probably won’t happen, so sigh.

Favorite headcanon

I have two for her (that I can think of right now). Her ring used to be her mother’s, and the only physical reminder she has left of them. Her real name is actually Denna. Also, her backstory mirrors Kvothe’s (i.e. an orphan from a loving family.)

He’s going to be interesting.

He’s still interesting. He probably has stories that would rival Kvothe’s.

Favorite moment

Burning Hemme’s clothes (although I love all the scenes with all the masters).

Idea for a story

Him telling his story to Chronicler (this is not for me to write). I don’t know, I haven’t given him much thought.

Unpopular opinion

I don’t love him. I enjoy his scenes, but most of the fandom loves him far more than I do.

Favorite relationship

Him and Auri. Love it. Amazing. I want so much more with them. Like, beginning of a beautiful relationship. (Ok, but imagine if they both knew each other, like when they were students, and she forgot him because she associates him with some of the bad events that happened to her) Just, this budding friendship gives me so much joy.

Favorite headcanon

I think the one above counts, right? (Auri and Elodin have a past, he’s probably only a few years older than her, she’s 20/21, he’s 25/26? It’s plausible they could have gone to school together)
